Why I Love To Write

By Joel B.

Today I want to talk to you about why I love to write. Many people think it is difficult to become a writer, but it’s really not that difficult. You see, to me writing is about sharing and spreading truth. Sure, I make silly mistakes sometimes, but I believe my work is heavily influenced by the Holy Spirit.

When we think about the Holy Spirit, we do not think of writing as being a spiritual gift, but I would argue that it very well can be. I know it’s not listed specifically as one of the gifts of the Spirit, but let’s look at the facts. There were thirty-nine authors of the Holy Bible, who all shared one Spirit. That Spirit was the Holy Spirit. If you think about it, the Holy Spirit gave all thirty-nine authors the writing bug or we would not have the Holy Bible we have today. Sounds like they were all given a gift of writing.

Now back to the topic at hand. I love to write because it gives me an opportunity to express myself, especially my faith in Jesus Christ and what He’s done in my life and what He is currently doing. It gives me a chance to share the knowledge and wisdom that God has bestowed upon me. It also gives me the chance to connect with other writers and learn what they have to say about matters that interests me, because to be a good writer you also need to look at the writing works of others.

Friends, becoming a writer isn’t hard at all. Pick up a pen or a keyboard and just start writing about what you know. If you need a few pointers, then this is what I would recommend. Start with a good thesis for your first paragraph, then use the body of your article to support it. End your work with a call to action that puts everything together and supports what you have written.

So, I like to write because I believe the Holy Spirit has given me the writing bug. I also think others should give writing a chance if it sounds like something that may even slightly interest them. You may find that it ends up being a very freeing experience and that people will be very interested in what you have to say. If it doesn’t interest you, then still be sure you are taking advantage of what others have to share and even give them feedback that will help them grow and have confidence in what they are doing. Thank you for reading and God bless.
