I Don’t Want To Change My Lifestyle!

Fear. Uncertainty of what the future may hold. Pride. All are ways that the spirits of darkness hold us back from our heart’s desire to change. “What will they think of me?…I’ve been this way for so long…They’ll think I’m crazy, gone off the deep end… They might even call me a Jesus freak!”

Yes, all ideas are a very real possibility. Change is difficult. Not impossible, but hard especially if you know that it is the right decision when everyone believes it to be wrong.

I remember before I became a Christian, I struggled with these same thoughts, and even though I was a grown adult, the idea of obeying my parents and doing their will was engrained deep within from my childhood that it held me back from my heart’s desire for a long time.

How about you? Are you walking in a lifestyle that you know is wrong? Are you having doubts about your life choices but continue to enjoy the temporary pleasure they bring? Do you feel trapped by what everyone else around you will think if you make a significant change to your life?

I believe that God has been trying to get a hold of you for a long time but you keep pushing Him aside in fear of what your friends or family might say or think. Your fear also goes beyond those around you. You have a fear of losing everything that you know. I understand because I too had that same fear when I committed my life to Christ.

I feared that my entire family would disown me, my marriage would end in divorce, and that I wouldn’t be able to see my kids on a daily basis. All were real fears, but I also knew that one day I would have a greater fear to face; explaining to God why I said yes to everyone else but Him, the One who created me.

Most times we allow our emotions to trump over what God is tugging on our heart, or whispering in our ear. Instead, we text, email, call, and talk to our friends, our family, maybe even our neighbor’s dog looking for the right advice; advice that we want to hear, but the words of wisdom just don’t seem to sit right in our soul. That’s because God is giving you the answer that you don’t want to hear, but you know it’s the right choice.

You are not alone! God knows everything, not just some, but ALL: the good, bad, and ugly, and guess what…He still loves you in spite of your current lifestyle situation.

“… God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. “ (Romans 5:8)

Did you catch that emphasis? “While we were still sinners” he still chose to die for you. I understand your deepest concerns and reasons to continue to deny God’s love for you, but the joy and peace he brings is greater than any loss that you might have to endure.

Listen to the voice inside that is calling you to turn away from your current lifestyle. Do not be afraid (Joshua 1:9) Give everything to God so that you may live, not in fear of what you will lose, but live in the freedom of what you will gain; a new life that has a greater purpose than the temporary pleasures this world can offer.

  1. Isaiah 1:18 “Come now, let’s settle this,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.
How loving The Lord is to provide this possibility for anyone who will take Him at His word.
The color of blood is the same as the color of sin and it takes a perfect life to erase the guilt and condemnation we all have before God until we chose to come to Him by the blood of the Messiah who is Yeshua (Jesus)!
Thank you for the wonderful way that you gave testimony to the power of The Lord in your life and how it will benefit others who are seeking. I am sure many will identify by your own experience and that any questions or struggles they may be having will be settled in their heart so they can make the right and wise choice which counts for eternity.
