God’s Pursuit of His Children

Have you ever stopped and really thought about the sequence of events that lead to you surrendering your life to Jesus Christ and accepting Him as your Lord and Savior? (If by chance you haven’t, keep reading!) The length of time you have been walking with God will determine how fresh the details may be. It could have been a long series of events as seeds were planted by some and watered by others, or God could have brought the increase in your life in one profound experience.

However do you realize that the same God that created the heavens and the earth pursed you before you decided to pursue Him? God literally desires a personal love relationship with us, He wants to develop an intimate connection with you and me! There isn’t a person on the planet that gets to experience this love relationship, which is the pinnacle of the experiences we can have during our time on earth, without God giving us the green light first. If you’ve ever wanted to feel special, understanding the magnitude of this truth will most certainly do it!

No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me … And He said, ‘Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.’ ”– John 6:44-45, 65 (emphasis mine)

These scriptures make it crystal clear that if God didn’t draw us in, there is not one of us that would ever find Him on our own! This is the most beautiful and humbling of things to realize when we really grasp what this means, especially when we consider that the Bible also makes it clear that none of us are worthy on our own and we all fall short of God’s glory.

“There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one.” (Romans 3:10-12)

The bottom line is that before God drew us to Him, we were not His friend but His enemy, some more than others!  The Apostle Paul exemplifies this more than most as he went from killing, persecuting and doing everything in his power to destroy Christ’s mission, to being directly responsible for spreading the Gospel to more people than anyone! One touch from Jesus Christ can change even the hardest of hearts or the most chaotic of lives.

There are a couple things I want everyone to gain from understanding this:

1) We all should be overloaded with praise, worship and thanksgiving to our Lord for the supernatural love He has to call us out of our life of darkness prior to knowing Him. If God loves us enough to grant us permission to accept His Son and receive the gift of salvation, we should love Him enough to be serious and disciplined in our faith, to learn about Him by reading about Him in the Bible, developing a relationship with Him in prayer and being obedient to what He instructs us to do.

2) In our aim to fulfill the great commission and spread the Gospel, we should keep in mind that unless God has granted someone we try to witness to permission, they are not going to receive the free gift of salvation. While we are to be facilitators of God’s purposes, we must be aware of what He is doing and meet Him where He is. We should not be frustrated if our witness seems to fall on deaf ears. Those people might not have “heard and learned from the Father” yet and are not fertile ground for the seed of Christ to be planted … yet.

Lastly, if you have not yet accepted Jesus Christ as your personal savior, and you just so happen to have somehow come across this blog and are reading this, I will tell you flat-out: YOU WOULDN’T HAVE THE DESIRE OR ABILITY TO EVEN READ THROUGH THIS IF GOD WASN’T DRAWING YOU TO HIM!

Consider this your official notice! God is calling you into a love relationship with Him and is asking you to accept His Son Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior! Be grateful, be humbled and say yes to this invitation! You can be walked through the simple process by clicking HERE. If you say yes to this invitation for the first time, please leave a comment so we can congratulate you personally!

How are you humbled by God’s pursuit of you? What can you do today to follow hard after Him?

About Jason Herrington

After spending fifteen years of his life aggressively pursing financial success in various business endeavors, Jason became disillusioned with what was being taught by the success “experts.” After many years searching for answers amongst new-age teachings, the mystical, the occult, and other spiritual practices, he found that nothing made a lasting difference in his life--which was becoming increasingly confusing and wrought with hardship. No matter how hard he worked he was left with more problems and questions. Then, a few years later he found the one solution that would change his life forever--giving his life to Jesus Christ. Once a strong skeptic and opponent of Christianity, now Jason is completely in awe of the God who, in His mercy, still made Himself known to him, despite his aversion. Now he is passionate and committed to searching for answers exclusively from God’s Word. His ministry seeks to target any and all individuals attracted to the success and personal development industry, as well as the new age movement, and deliver God’s truth.
