Knocked Down But Not Out

The trials of life will have you feeling Knocked Out. I sit reflecting on life, not only about myself but what is going on in this world today. Senseless killings, unemployment, drugs, death, etc, but in a deep sense we all are born dying. Just that thought leads me to a deeper truth. The way we respond to the trials of life reveals a great deal about the strength of our Christian faith. If we deny our troubles, or if we give in to anger or bitterness, or if we blame others for our problems, we miss what God intends to teach us through what happens to us.

In 2 Corinthians: 4:8-9, Paul makes four statements that describes how Christians responds to the trials of life:

We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed, perplexed, but not driven to despair. Persecuted, but not forsaken, struck, but not destroyed.

We all will experience them, though our experience of them varies. We are not always pressed, but we often are. We’re not always perplexed, but it happens more than we think. We do not always face opposition, but sometimes we do. And not everyday we are struck down by the circumstances of Life, but it happens to us all eventually. No one is exempt from trials. Let’s be real about it.

“We may get Knocked Down, but we are never Knocked Out!” If you live long enough, you’ll be knocked down several times, but the key to it all is to get back up without staying down.

What I am trying to say, The Victory will be yours at the end while God gets the glory. We all will face trouble ,despair of life, knock downs , but that’s when the power of Christ shows up to help. If we have victory, it is victory in trouble not apart from trouble.

Just like any other time when I speak about God’s goodness tears flow down my face. I have been knocked down in life but I didn’t stay down. Its what you do when you get knocked down. Are you going to stay down feeling sorry for yourself or will you do your part by getting up relying on God to direct you?

For anyone that feel like you are Knocked Down and Knocked Out. Perhaps the Lord is using your hardships of life to draw you to Him at this very moment. If so, I leave this verse with you.

Proverbs 3:6 ” In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

In life you will get Knocked Out. Are you going to stay down or get up? Remember your trials are just God’s way of saying Come closer to Him.
