“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:” ~ 2 Timothy 4:7
Listening to the Lies
Women are notoriously guilty. All too often, we listen to Satan’s lies. We hear him tell us we are worthless, that we are not good at anything, that no one loves us, that we should just give into our depression. We hear the lies and we believe them. We repeat them and cling to the hopelessness in them. Personally, I listened to Satan for far too long. I believed his lies that I was an inept wife, a failing daughter, a pathetic excuse for a woman. I let his words rule my emotions, and it is not surprising that I became severely depressed.
Let It Go
Dear sisters, if you are like me, let me share with you a thing or two that our GRACIOUS Heavenly Father taught me. I may not be a perfect wife, but I try my very best. I love my husband and do whatever I can to make his life better. I loved my parents deeply and took care of them to the best of my ability. As a child, I learned to do physical therapy, change bandages, give shots. Their deaths were not because I didn’t take care of them enough. Finally, just because I couldn’t have a child does not make me less of a woman. My husband and I are youth leaders. We have 11 nieces and nephews. We have had 4 children live with us at different times. Not bearing my own children does not mean I cannot mother other people’s.
But this post is not about me, it’s about YOU. It is for all the girls out there just like me. We want to live joyfully, we want to be in the moment, we want to seize the day, and we want God to control our every move. Yet, our very selves get in the way. But not this time and not today! Today is a new day. Today, you can choose to LET IT GO and live for your Creator. Take charge of the mess of your life. Take back your joy and live the life you were created to live.
How do you do you let it go?
Start by praying and asking God to help you with your feelings of inadequacy. Recognize that He paid a great price to redeem you, and then ask that He help you reach that freedom. “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (I Corinthians 6:20)
Remember, when you accepted Christ as Savior, you were adopted as God’s child. “For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.” (Romans 8:15)
Recognize that Satan is the Father of Lies and stop listening! Thank God for the fresh feelings of hope. Thank Him for the strength to keep going. Pour your heart out to Him and allow Him a chance to talk back to you. Meditate on Christ’s sacrifice for you, and allow yourself the freedom to bask in the worth you have to Him. You are DADDY’S LITTLE GIRL! Embrace it!
When have you felt worthless? What lies do you need to let go of? Can you begin to listen to the truth of what your Father says about you?
