Overcoming the Overload

By Joel B.

1 Cor 12:14 For the body is not one member, but many.

Has the Lord ever promised you an answer and as soon as you settled yourself, the Lord instantly provided you with that answer?  This is what happened to me last night.  In fact, not only did God give me insight, but seconds later He gave me confirmation on it.  Let me tell the story.

Now I’m not one to tell about things that go on in private, but last night our authors were playing a bit of e-mail tag back and forth in dealing with the issue of how to take on some of the responsibility of running a growing website.  Of course the Lord provided some scripture, which provided some guidance and comfort, and we also prayed.  This was not the end of it, but rather an act of assurance by God that He knew our needs and that they would be addressed.

So anyway, let me tell you what happened next.  I went to go to sleep, and suddenly the Lord put the scripture of Matt 25:14-30 into me, which is the parable of the three servants who received talents from their master, and before I could even respond back, this is the exact scripture that was mentioned on the Christian radio station I was listening to at the time.  Perfect!  I had my confirmation.

What I took from this experience was an understanding that two of the three servants, doubled their talents and they were both invited to enter the joy of their lord.  It wasn’t about one having more than the other, as they were both given exactly what they were intended to work with and they both multiplied it.

This is what the Lord expects from all us.  He expects us only to take on what we can handle.  If things go beyond that, brother or sister, say a prayer with your request and God’s going to send help.  He knows your needs.  Matt 11:30 even tells us His yoke is easy and His burden is light.

So my message to our family of writers is to only do as much as the Lord is calling you to do at any given time.  Then my message to our readers is to get involved whether it be encouraging our writers through comments or becoming active in the forums.  Just decide what you can and are willing to do with the talents that are entrusted to you.  You don’t have to worry about the prize, or if you’re doing enough, because we’re all promised the greatest prize of all which is an eternal home with our Lord in Heaven.  God bless.

John 14:2-3 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
