Refuse Foolishness, Choose God’s Wisdom–For Your Own Good

“The foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.”  1 Corinthians 1:25

Mopeds and scooters are little and cute.  Some of them are even fancy.  I, myself, entertained the thought of getting one a few years ago, thinking it would be fun to drive and easy on gas, and would be acceptable for short distances.  I have since changed my mind, and for very good reason.

Just in our immediate area alone we have seen a rise in death and injury to moped and scooter riders.  I am amazed that nearly every week there are news reports of riders who went out for a short ride and never came home again.  They are too small and lightweight to withstand a slight bump from a larger vehicle, and can easily get caught on the pavement edge, thus throwing the rider off.  A moped cannot compete on our busy roadways with faster, heavier vehicles.

God provides wisdom to us for many reasons.  One of them is for our personal safety.  He did not create us to go out and just get ourselves killed senselessly.  He gave us common sense, and then added wisdom to the mix to cement it.  We are to use reasonable means to ensure our safety, and the safety of those we love.  We only need to ask Him for it, and He will give it.  His Word makes it clear that it is ours for the asking.

When we refuse God’s wisdom, we are instead choosing our own foolishness.  That is not a win-win situation.  Foolishness not only brings no rewards, it often brings true harm.  God does not want that for His people.  He provides so much for us for our own good; it is foolish for us to ignore the benefits He makes available to us.  When we deter from good sense, we opt for disaster.

So don’t be like the moped rider who does not wear a helmet, who rides a vehicle much too small for today’s traffic, and who takes a huge risk every single time he takes a ride.  The little moped vs everything else is a dangerous reality. And please be careful when you drive to watch out for the moped and scooter riders you may encounter.  You can use God’s wisdom to help them be safe while you are on the road.
