Will This Red Heifer Fulfill Bible Prophecy?
By John Livingston Clark
The Jewish people are getting very excited because a red calf has been discovered in the United States. The location is not important, but what is significant is that it could turn out to be a heifer necessary to fulfill Bible prophecy. They are extremely rare but are a requirement to be used in Temple worship.
Numbers 19:2 says to bring an “unblemished red heifer in which is no defect, and on which a yoke has never been placed.” There are strict requirements for the cow to be used as part of the Temple ritual. Just two single hairs of a color other than red disqualifies it and it cannot be put to any kind of work. It cannot be ridden, have a cloth put on its back, or even leaned against. To insure that none of this happens requires the calf to be under watchful care until at least three years old.
In Old Testament Jewish teaching, for the most serious defilement, it was necessary to have a cleansing ceremony with the ashes of a red heifer before entering the Temple courtyard. So, the potential discovery of this rare cow makes worship on the Temple Mount a possible reality. It will be another two and half years, though, before it is known whether or not this calf qualifies as THE red heifer. If it does it could help fulfill a huge piece of Bible prophecy. Many Jews believe that Moses prepared the first red heifer and that Messiah will prepare the last one. If there is serious evidence that this cow is the one it will be brought to Israel as part of the other preparations for the rebuilding of the Temple, which are already underway by the Temple Institute in Jerusalem. According to the web page from which this information was taken there has not been a red heifer in Israel for 2,000 years!
This also has a huge importance for the rebuilding of the Temple because, according to another website called “Right Side News,” without a red heifer making it possible for ceremonial purification there would be no point in even erecting the Temple. It is, indeed, interesting how this piece of fulfilled prophecy hinges on one single cow. The rebuilding of the Temple is important not only because the Jewish people will return to temple worship, but because it would clear the way for another fulfilled prophecy stated in II Thessalonians 2:4 that says the anti-Christ will take his seat in the Temple, claiming that he is God.
There is much interest in Bible prophecy by both Christians and non-believers. For Christians it is a very exciting time, while the secular culture is seeking answers as to what is happening in the world, and why. Time is getting short as we see more and more things unfolding before our eyes. Refer to the article, “The Last Days,” by another Bottom Line author. In the video below you may be looking at the red calf that could help fulfill Bible prophecy. Consider putting your faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ for your eternal salvation, today, before it may be too late.
