What Would Life Be Like if Kids Were in Charge?

Children are awesome. They can be a handful, but they are also fun to be around. Kids will make you laugh, brighten your day and lift your mood. They reason differently than adults do–their concern is with the here and now, not with any long term effects. Hence, even though they are darlings, they’ll turn into monsters when they don’t get their way. So, what do you think would happen if kids were in charge? How would they change the rules? Take a look at some of these strong possibilities …

Ice-cream would be served for dinner—probably even breakfast too! In fact, it would be a meal plan readily available for any meal time.

Vegetables would be illegal. No child would be allowed to touch them, much less consume them. Scary looking broccoli, cauliflower, and asparagus would be locked away for good.

There would be no Bedtime. Kids would be allowed to fall asleep wherever and whenever they chose, and they would get up whenever they wanted as well.

Showers would be taken once a month. Why not, since body-dirt never killed anyone?

Crazy-hair day would be every day. Even better, no hair style would be considered crazy. It would be perfectly fine to roll out of bed and present yourself to the world as is.

There would be no such thing as “Too much Television.” Kids would be allowed to watch TV endlessly.

Only adults would do chores. Kids would never be allowed to take out garbage or rake leaves. Mommies and Daddies would have to wash the dishes and make the beds.

Parents would have to take Shots at the doctors for their children. Needles are scary and they hurt too. So, it’s only fair that if kids were in charge they wouldn’t have to get  shots.

Playtime would be mandatory. There would be no time limits and no restrictions.

Homework would be optional. While playtime is mandatory, homework would be done only if it’s easy … or if kids are in the mood.

Mean kids would be banned from school. There would be no space in school for mean kids. They would have to be home schooled.

School would only be TWO hours. The rest of the time would be for mandatory playtime and endless TV time.

No one would be allowed to stay mad at each other. “I’m sorry” would be a phrase used to fix every problem, and then life would go on as usual.

Mistakes would be quickly forgiven. No one would be allowed to hold a grudge. Forgiveness would come easily and second changes would be given in abundance.

We all have responsibilities. This whimsical presentation isn’t meant to disregard them, but it’s just a cool way to help adults see the world through the eyes of a child. Maybe we can learn some things from them–like learning not to take life too seriously, let bygones be bygones, and forgive quickly.

“Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3

  3. Yeah im zians friend i think that homework should be BANNED and parents should ALWAYS do chores! 😉

  4. I am a kid. You can’t stereotype all kids being all crazy and a menace. Honestly, if kids were in charge, I’d make a good president.

  5. Also, not all kids hate vegetables. Or doctors. Or showers. Or crazy hair. Stop thinking kids are 7 or under.
