Will Our Pets Be In Heaven?

By Joel B.

Isaiah 11:6-8 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den.

Will out pets be in heaven? Sure! Why not? I can’t say for sure, but I’m going to make an attempt at covering this topic from what we know about God and animals through the Holy Bible.

Isaiah 11:6-8 makes it clear that there will be animals in our heavenly home. It even paints a picture of children being able to interact with them by leading or playing with them. So if these ordinary animals are in heaven, then why not our beloved pets that have passed on? I would suggest that God is more than capable or translating our pets to the heavens. They may not have a soul like a human being, but they are living creatures they are cared about by both God and man, and certainly are a desired addition to our homes.

1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Another thing to keep in mind is that God is love. God is pure love and He knows that His children would love to be reunited with their pets. Many of us have lost a dog or cat, or some other animal that was important to us. Maybe we have even dug a grave for the poor animal and given it a wooden cross tombstone. God certainly knows our love for our deceased pets and it would certainly make him smile to see us reunited with old Spot or Mittens.

Ps 37:4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Finally, lets take a gander at Ps 37:4. We are told that if we delight in the Lord, He will give us the desires of our hearts. Wouldn’t this include reuniting us with lost pets in heaven? I would imagine so. He knows we would love to see our pets again, and I’m quite certain He would be more than willing to grant this request if it were your hearts desire.

Friends, this was meant to be a fun and encouraging article. I don’t know for sure that all our pets will all be in heaven, but I’m guessing all or most will be. If you miss your pet, don’t fret. Just as we will one day see our loved ones in heaven, it is also very likely that we will see our beloved animal friends. So if you’ve lost a pet that you miss, these is certainly hope that you will one day be reunited. Thanks for reading and God bless.

  1. Love this! I, too, believe that God values our animals, and He understands our love for them. I have a friend who told me, when one of my beloved pets died, that animals simply don’t NEED to be saved. Man does. Blessed my heart. Thanks for writing such a sweet and yet important message for all of us animal lovers out here! Well done!

    • I’m sure most of us will be surprised by all the wonders we see in heaven, including our long lost pets. And I know God values our animals. Everything is important to God. Glad you liked the article. 🙂

  2. Hi Joel, good piece of writing!

According to Ephesians 1:10 and Colossians 1:20 all animals go to heaven.

  3. I’m looking forward to seeing my two cats, Tiger and Jasmine. Never really gave thought to my horse, but maybe him too. Smiling.
