Our Hope: The LORD Will Receive You

“Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me.’ Psalm 27.10

David is credited with composing Psalm 27. He is known for his faithfulness to always give praise to God. It didn’t matter where he was in his life, what his struggles were, or what his hopes were. He knew God, and he knew Him as his Father.

There are many who have been disappointed by their earthly parents. Sometimes it is the parent’s fault, but often it is their circumstances. The child will feel hurt and pain regardless of the reason. Humans are not perfect, and fail at things as simple as love. You ask me if I am serious that love is simple? It is. But it can also be complicated. Not everyone knows how to show love effectively, even if they truly love. Others show love just in their smile, or with their voice. They don’t have to do anything special; they exude love just the same.

We, in our natural human state, crave love, acceptance, a place to belong. For many, they have never experienced this. They often blame themselves. They did not measure up; they were a disappointment. These feelings often follow them throughout their lives, tarnishing anything good that may be for them. Their future relationships can be tainted, so that an inherent mistrust of others intentions is always present. But does this have to be?

No, of course not. Each of us must realize our value to the Father, the Lord God Jehovah. He created us. In so doing, He right there establishes we have value and worth to Him. He didn’t have to create us. He did not have to nourish us while in the womb. He does not need anybody or anything. He is God. He is omnipotent. He is the Great I Am. He created us because He loves us, and He wants us. It’s just that simple.

God made a covenant between Himself and Abram. While speaking this to him, God told him his name would be changed to Abraham, as He had made him the father of many nations.  The very last statement God made to Abraham at the end of the actual covenant was that He would be the God of Abraham’s descendants.  Does this sound like a God who did not love these people? And if He so loved them, why would he not love each and every one of us? God’s covenant is in effect even today. He keeps His word, as He keeps His promises. He will never change. He will always love the ones He created. And that includes you.

Our Hope is in the One who brings life to each of us, Who breathes that life into us, nurtures and trains us as we grow. He watches over us, He blesses us with all that is according to His own riches, and He will also correct us when we disobey. He is a loving Father who will be all things to those who feel fatherless. He is the true Father. And in this we know Our Hope is sustained forever.

‘Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed, says the LORD, who has compassion on you.’ Isaiah 54:10

Blessings!
