Praise and Worship

1 Chronicles 16:23-26(NLT)—23) Let the whole earth sing to the Lord! Each day proclaim the good news that He saves. 24) Publish His glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things He does. 25) Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of Praise! He is to be revered above all gods. 26) The gods of other nations are merely idols, but the Lord made the heavens!

Read 1 Chronicles 16:7-36—This is a beautiful piece of Scripture—King David’s Song of Praise. Plus, read Psalm 96–A Call to Worship the Lord by David.

We can praise God by singing about Him; telling others about Him; worshiping Him; giving Him all the glory; helping others; tithing; and by living holy lives. Telling others about God’s greatness should be an automatic response from Christians when people ask, “Where does your hope come from?”

When we praise God, we are declaring God’s character and attributes in the presence of others. As we recognize and affirm His goodness, we are holding up his perfect moral nature for all to see. Praising God benefits us because it takes our minds off our problems and needs and focuses on God’s power, sovereignty, majesty, and unconditional love. We give God all the glory when we worship Him. It is an honor to sing to God and it pleases Him. It is an honor to know Him!

The best witnessing happens when our hearts are full of appreciation for what he has done. We cannot help but tell others about Him. God has chosen to use us to declare his marvelous deeds among all peoples. Praise for our great God flows from His creation and should overflow from our lips. Only God deserves our worship.  Worship is showing the highest honor and praise to someone/something greater than us.

Psalm 26:12(NLT)—I have taken a stand, and I will publicly praise the Lord.

Hebrews 13:15-16(NLT)—15) With Jesus’ help, let us continually offer our sacrifice of praise to God by proclaiming the glory of his name. 16) Don’t forget to do good and to share what you have with those in need, for such sacrifices are very pleasing to God.

Isaiah 1:4(NLT)—In the wonderful day you will sing: “Thank the Lord! Praise His name! Tell the world what he has done. Oh, how mighty he is!”

1 Samuel 12:20-21(NLT)—20) “Don’t be afraid,” Samuel reassured them. “You have certainly done wrong, but make sure now that you worship the Lord with all your heart and that you don’t turn your back on him in any way. 21) Don’t go back to worshiping worthless idols that cannot help or rescue you—they really are useless!”

When you seek God through His Word, you will find all kinds of treasures on praise and worship. There is so much to learn about our heavenly Father.

About Susan

I have always enjoyed writing little things, poems, devotionals, little short stories and bible studies. I love God and want to glorify His name and I love praising Him. I live in upstate New York with my Chihuahua-Snowball. My children are grown and left me with an empty nest. I have lots of time on my hands and love to fill it with God's Word.
