Believing for Better!

Have you ever been around the world in 4 minutes and 44 seconds? Well, that is exactly what we are going to do as we experience together Hezekiah Walker’s music video “Better.” Together, he and numerous singers from around the globe anticipate through song the world becoming a better place.

But wait, these are not your typical world-renowned, celebrity singers that join him on this expedition. It’s everyday people like you and me, some choirs and some seemingly random groups of individuals, who have gathered around the world to be part of this experience.

For this video, Hezekiah Walker, who is a pastor and a Grammy award-winning artist, made stops in Japan, South Africa, France, and Italy, and of course made several stops around the cities of the U.S. including Flint, Michigan; Los Angeles, California; Trenton, New Jersey, New York, New York; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Baltimore, Maryland; Ferguson (St. Louis), Missouri; and Chicago, Illinois.

The single of “Better” was actually released in March 2016, and first performed at the 31st Annual Stellar Awards with the concept video being released in July 2016.

I love the energy of this song because it makes me feel like I am attending a round-the-world Praise Fest. Everyone is dancing, moving around, singing and getting their praise on. It’s a wonderful thing!

The lyrics remind me that no matter what is going on in my life, it is only temporary. Things will get better. For me that brings to mind the verse that says:

“Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.” (Psalm 30:5).

This song also helps me remember that God is in control and that I should rest assured in knowing that we have a God that can supply all our needs. Wow, that is straight from Philippians 4:19 which says, “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

Those are verses that bring me comfort. They let me know that, yes, I will go through some things in life, but I can survive because I know that I have a God who is with me day and night, and who knows me by name (Jeremiah 1:5; Exodus 33:17; John 10:14) and knows my every need before I even ask (Matthew 6:8).

Now, I don’t want to oversimplify things and make it seem like what you may be going through is not difficult, for I am not walking in your shoes this day. I can not speak for you. But I can say that I have been through my own set of very difficult circumstances–from the loss of both parents and a sibling, to separation and divorce, to very trying health challenges–and although sometimes I couldn’t see my way through, I know that God had me in the palm of his hands, he still does, and always will! Please believe me that this is true for you also.

So now, I invite you to go on around the world with Hezekiah Walker and “Better.” And after you do, you might, like me, want to know what is involved in taking on a worldwide music project such as this one, so invite you to also take a “behind the scenes” look at the making of ” Better.”

Whatever you may be going through, just hang in there, keep the faith, and hold on to God’s steady hand. And you will see that, by and by, things will get better!

What are you facing right now that you need this encouragement?
