“The Perfect Stranger” Movie Review

The “Perfect Stranger” is an older movie, which was released in April of 2005. This Independent Christian Film movie which is approved by the Dove Family Foundation is definitely one you will want to see.  It is based upon the bestselling novel, “Dinner with a Perfect Stranger” written by David Gregory. This movie turned into a movie trilogy—“Another Perfect Stranger” – September 2007, which is about Nikki’s daughter and “Nikki – August 2013, which is about Nikki when she is 40 years old.

This entertaining film is about a cynical lawyer, Nikki Cominsky (Pamela Brumley), and Jesus (Jefferson Moore). She is so turned off by her Christian neighbors who are always trying to bring her to their church. She wants nothing to do with them and their religion.

One day Nikki asks her husband if they could go to her favorite restaurant for a romantic evening.  Her husband is not a very attentive man and he tells her he already made plans to attend a baseball game with his buddy.  A disappointed Nikki goes to work and finds a dinner invitation waiting for her on her computer keyboard.  It is signed by Jesus Christ.  It is for a dinner at her favorite restaurant.  She asks her receptionist who brought this note. She said she never saw it. At first Nikki thinks it is another ploy to get her to church from her religious neighbors. Then she thinks maybe it is from her husband asking her out to her favorite romantic restaurant to surprise her after all.

She goes to the restaurant expecting to meet her husband. Instead she is met by a well-dressed stranger. He introduces himself as Jesus and, of course, she does not believe him. At first, Nikki wants to leave, but decides to stay for a free meal and take this man’s “bluff.”  She was curious and always wondered things like, “Why is Christianity the one true religion?” The evening goes on with a conversation of questions and revelations about Jesus’ life.  She also gets a few revelations about her own life.  This man is patient and loving as he answers her questions with straight forward facts with gentle responses. He is very friendly and on a first name basis with all of the staff and Nikki asks him if he goes there often, he says, “No, this is my first time.” She thinks that as strange because they act as if they all know him so well.

This is a very enlightening and uplifting movie for the whole family. I have shown this to quite a few friends and they fell in love with Jesus. This actor portrays a gentle, loving, patient and forgiving Jesus. I love this movie and have watched it many times.  I get the same warm, loving feeling and cry at the beautiful revelation at the end every single time.
