How To Share The Gospel Every Single Day

If we are to be honest with ourselves it is safe to say that we aren’t the bold Christians we want to be. But life doesn’t have to stay that way. What stands in your way from speaking the truth as the disciples did?

There many be many things that stand in our way and one reason that stands out is our thinking that speaking boldly for Christ is something reserved only for Pastors or Theologians. That simple is not true and even if we don’t have a fancy bible or theology degree we can still preach the gospel with confidence.

Jesus knew that talking to others about Him was going to be difficult. He prepared his disciples to know that they would see the toughest persecution but that he would be with them all. They had doubts and Jesus reminded them to trust in him.

“And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”  –Matthew 28:20

In our society today I think we feel too afraid to speak boldly anymore. We are too afraid of offending someone and at times that prevents us from asking others what they think about truth and hope.

We can tell people about Jesus in our everyday conversations. It’s in these simple conversations that we can speak truth. You may find yourself like I did last week talking to my retirement advisor about daily life such as “what do you do”, “what are your hobbies”, etc.  This conversation led to my passion to write. He asked more of what I write about and he was curious by the fact that I hadn’t been a Christian all my life. It was great to have this unscripted conversation with a man I may never see again. In this unscripted time I was able to share a small part of my testimony with him.

The biggest surprise for me is that it was unscripted. I am a scripted type-A personality who likes order and predictability and frankly I freak out a little bit when I’m thrown into a situation I’m not prepared for.  But sometimes that’s what God wants.  Us to be unprepared so that we can talk to people and have normal conversations with them. There will be days that before you can bring out the scripted talk about how Jesus has changed your life you have to have an established trusted relationship in place. Further, God will place people in your life that need you in theirs. While you may be tempted to jump into telling them all about Jesus just spend time and be close to others. As Christians we have to be bold and dare to be close to others.

So often as Christians I think we have this scripted conversation in our minds of what we have to say in order to get an unbeliever to see the love of Christ.  We set ourselves up for failure by not thinking that God can use any conversation for his glory. The Lord can use any situation to open the eyes of an unbeliever.

  1. Great article Sarah. I feel like this is one particular area of weakness for me. It seems like after the fact, I can think of things that I should have, or could have said. Good is certainly still working on me in this area.
