Rest In The Lord

‘I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.’ Jeremiah 31:25 (NIV)

Life is busy, every day. Our schedules have become prisons on paper. Our time is no longer our own. And everybody we know, and then some, wants something from us.

We feel pulled every which-way some days. Between work, home, our families, we don’t have much left to give at the end of a day. We are weary, worn down, bone tired. And we may dread going to bed at night because we will be rising in just a few hours to start the whole cycle over again. We may not have even had a few minutes to simply unwind.

God has much to say about rest. Remember, He worked 6 days to create the earth and all that is in it. But on the 7th day, He, God, rested. He didn’t need to; He never gets tired. But He did it to set the example, for those who do indeed become weary. And who need to have good, solid, refreshing rest.

When we struggle with schedules, appointments, stolen time for whatever reason, we must turn to the Lord. He, in His infinite wisdom, has provided exactly what we need to sustain us. He offers rest that no one else can. No bed can provide the comfort that His peace brings. There is not a recliner designed that can even compete with His warm embrace. There is no sustenance in life like the sweet taste of His Living Water. When we accept rest in Him, we have received peace and refreshment such as does not exist anywhere else.

Jesus said,’Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.’ Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)

Read God’s Word. You will find your perfect rest.

Blessings!
