The Devil’s 3 Favorite Lies

Friends, Satan is a schemer. We are warned about this in 1 Peter 5:8 where it says he walks about, like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. We also see his attacks in scripture. He went after Job (Job 2:7), Peter (Luke 22:31), Judas (John 13:2), and even our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ (Matt 4:1-11). We are also told in James 4:7 that to defeat the devil we must resist him. This isn’t necessarily an easy task, as he will tempt you with various ideas and material possessions. Sometimes what he tempts you with may in itself seem harmless, but what it really ends up being is a distraction away from God.

There are three core lies that Satan would like everybody to believe. I’m going to talk about them in order of significance. I will address why the idea is important to him and give a brief explanation of how to avoid the lie.

Lie #1: God does not exist

The first and most dangerous lie Satan would have anybody believe is that, “God does not exist.” This is significant because if we do not believe God exists, then we have no means of atonement. It also opens up the door for humanism where mankind becomes the god(s). With that being said, man is flawed and has no place as god(s). Also, when we elevate ourselves in this fashion, we begin having faith in ideas that try to push aside and offer other explanations. This isn’t a knock on science. It’s a knock on trying to move forward scientifically while taking God out of the equation.

To avoid the lie, simply take in all the creation around you. Romans 1:20 tells us that the eternal power and Godhead of our Creator can be identified through creation so that nobody is able to make an excuse.

Lie #2: Hell does not exist

Satan’s second big lie is that “Hell does not exist.” If you’ve embraced that God exists, Satan would have you believe that there are no consequences for rejecting the Lord. God is just going to beam you up to Heaven for being good boys and girls. Danger! Wrong! Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. So what does it mean that the “wages of sin is death?” Well do you remember the rich man and Lazarus. Lazarus was comforted while the rich man want sent to hell. We then hear Lazarus crying out to Abraham, wanting to be removed from the agony so he could warn his brothers of the awful place (Luke 16:19-31)

To avoid this lie, believe the Holy Bible and it’s warnings about this awful place. Also, secure your place in heaven by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. If you need help with this, please visit our Romans Road to Salvation page.

Lie #3: Satan does not exist

Finally, Satan would have you believe that he doesn’t exist. This is because he wants you to get sucked into your sins and play the blame game; when he is the one antagonizing you. You see, this is how a lot of things like addictions, suicides, and family crises occur. These individuals and families get into spiritual warfare and they don’t realize they’re in a spiritual battle (Eph 6:12) If you don’t think Satan is there, then what are you likely to try and do about it?

The solution is to believe that you have an enemy and equip yourself with the seven pieces of spiritual armor mentioned in Eph 6:13-20:

1. Belt of Truth
2. Breastplate of Righteousness
3. Shod Feed (Ready To Move With the Gospel)
4. The Shield of Faith
5. The Helmet of Salvation
6. The Sword of the Spirit
7. Prayer

Satan is a liar. Not only is he a liar, but he is the father of lies (John 8:44). Be very careful when it comes to sin and believing lies. If you hear him whispering garbage in your mind, quote scripture to him. Just say, “It is written…” He hates this, and this is exactly what Jesus did in the wilderness when Satan was trying to tempt Him. Let’s be lovers of the truth. Remember, knowing the Truth will surely set you free (John 8:32). Thank you for reading and God bless.

  1. Great message–the Truth does make us free as those of us who belong to Christ know!

Praying that people with honest questions will read.

  2. Very important message.
Not only do we need to equip ourselves with spiritual armor, we need to arm ourselves to intercede for those who cannot see that they are in a spiritual battle. Satan seems to be working overtime these days using all these deceptive weapons. The need for prayer warriors is great.
