The Silliness of Division

The Silliness of Division

By Joel B.

There is a matter that God has really laid on my heart, and that is the matter of division within the Church. What I am speaking of is the unified body of Christ. At least, it’s supposed to be unified. I mean, isn’t this exactly what Paul was talking about in 1 Cor 12 when he talked about all different types of men who are meant to drink from the same Spirit?

I can tell you that when I became a Christian, I was so enthralled with the Lord that I would go to almost any Christian church. And you know something I noticed? All the churches hard their strong points, and all of them were lacking in some ways. Some were practicing the gifts of the Holy Spirit, to include prophecy and healing, but these churches were hardly reaching out to the community. On the other hand, I attended larger churches, and they had wonderful preaching and a great commitment to the community, but they were lacking in other departments
.
Another point I would like to make is that we should ALL be about the Gospel. This is something that connects all Christians and sharing this is core in being part of the body of believers. It also helps this body to grow. When the body grows, it becomes stronger.

The point to all this is that you’re never going to find a perfect denomination, a perfect church, or even a perfect Christian. Thankfully we have a Lord who is full of love and grace who knows how to use even our imperfections for good. That is why we are told in Rom 8:28: “that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are called according to His purpose.” So since God loves and cares about us all, I think it is only appropriate that we show that same love and care towards others even when we disagree or see what we believe to be each others imperfections.
