The Upside-Down Love

If we took a look in the mirror, would we even recognize whom we are?

Turn on any television and the glamour and advertising world says we are too fat, old or ugly. Marketers attempt to tap into our desired weaknesses trying to sell items of temporary value. Plug into any social media network and listen to the voices screaming out how unpopular we are by the lacking of the likes or comments. The media tells us what we are supposed to like or hate, agree or disagree with, and how to vote on the political agenda.

Even in the financial realm the numbers are backwards. Those with a professional athletic ability or a nice looking face and body who can ham it up on the screen are paid millions while those who educate the youth or protect our freedom have to work two jobs to keep their families a float.

Our world has become a twisted mixed up mess leaving those who should matter most as left overs amongst a perishing society.

Have we become the modern Sodom and Gomorrah?

How did we ever end up in such a mess?

By slowly pushing and eventually heaving God aside, we have created our own laws and rules when we didn’t like having to obey the laws of a higher power.

Instead of asking God for the answers, we have changed the rules of the game so that we can create our own answers to best fit our selfish needs and shove the guilt away.

Amazingly enough, God still loves us even though we have rejected Him, cursed Him, and shook our fists against Him. Even when we were still sinners, Christ died for us. –Romans 5:8

The world is the polar opposite of what God stands for. When we have messed up, the world is quick to judge, mock, and heave guilt like stones upon our self worth.

God will not.

His love for us is not contingent upon how dirty we may view ourselves or how bad our sin might seem to us or how far we have messed up.

His love is the same.

His mathematical equations are not like any other. While we keep tally of our sinful nature and hide in our guilt, God waits in anticipation for us to turn to him for help. He readily awaits for our return to Him.

For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive,

And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You. –Pslams 86:5

God loves us no matter how far we run, even if we try to escape to the ends of the earth, he is there.

Are you ready to turn back to Him and experience His upside down love?

  1. Renee, this was a beautiful reminder of His grace. I also find myself heavily burdened by the ways of our world and yet He keeps reminding me through the scriptures and through the peace of the Holy Spirit that the real battle is even bigger and outside our comprehension…regardless, we can take rest in the fact that He is God and His mercy is limitless. Thankful to be an ambassador of His Kingdom to help live and preach in such a way to bring Him glory and set some people free to be Raised to Life! 🙂
