WATER

{Adapted from a message Annie Meadows delivered to Woman Of Hope in Leland, NC}

Water symbolizes CLEANSING.  Water symbolizes BIRTH.  Water symbolizes BAPTISM.  Water ought to symbolize on the outside what needs to happen on the inside.  When God created the heavens and the earth we read that God was hovering over the face of the waters, just before He created light.  Water was there in the beginning, with God, and it will be there when we leave behind  this earthly existent.

Water brings refreshment, yet it is a substance we can drown in.  In Isaiah 12:3 we read, “Therefore with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.” (NKJV)  So I guess water is something we seek, as deep calls to deep, in searching for that relationship with God that is not on the surface, but in the deepest recesses of our very soul.  Do you have the eyes to see it and the heart to perceive it?  As we read in the book of Psalms 42:1-2As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for you, O God.  My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.  When shall I come and appear before God?” (NKJV)

God is evident in countless ways, and yet it takes a cold splash of water to the face for God to get our attention many times!  God longs to take us apart and cleanse our temple, to make needed changes within our lives and hearts, so that He can feel at home there.  Are you willing to bend to the Creator of your soul?

Years ago I took many of the words from Psalm 42 and put them to music that I composed.  I enjoyed telling people, with tongue in cheek, that I had written a song with King David.  Sadly to say, it was not until later in my walk that I came to live those words out, and realize what King David was actually referring to.  My personal life and spiritual walk began to take shape and discover what deep calls to deep, really mean.   It meant that I was finally able to allow God into the deepest part of my heart and answer back with a firm yes.  2 Corinthians 6: 16a “…..As God has said: ‘I will dwell in them and walk among them.  I will be their God, and they shall be My people.”

Are you ready for this kind of relationship with your Creator God?  Are you prepared to take the plunge and fall madly in love with God?  So many individuals are striving to walk on water, yet they refuse to take the plunge.  My friend, instead of searching for God on the surface, plan to go deep, and find the treasure you have been seeking all your life.  A real and true relationship with the living God!  I promise you, from experience, you will not be left wanting.
