Family: It’s So Important

By Joel B.

Friends, today I want to talk to you a little about family and how important it is. Yesterday, my family adopted an eight-week-old male sugar glider, who we named “Samson”, or “Sam” for short. Sugar gliders are marsupials from the opossum family. They have a membrane between their arms and legs that help them glide like a flying squirrel. They live in colonies and are very social creatures.

Once we adopted Sam, he fussed a bit when we tried to interact with him, but soon he adopted us just as much as we adopted him. You see, sugar gliders are very family-oriented and they can teach us a lot. They can teach you the importance of bonding and loving those who are part of the “colony.” We are now a part of Sam’s colony and once he accepted this, he started to warm up to everyone. He now wants to lick, cuddle, or be held. If he doesn’t get the attention he wants he starts to bark, so he is also an excellent communicator.

We, just like a sugar glider, need to communicate with our family and treat them with love and respect. We need to have a tight bond with everyone in our family and look out for them. Most importantly, we need to show unconditional love for family members and enjoy the time we have together.

In closing, I just want to remind everybody of all the beautiful creatures that God has created. I also want to encourage you to love your family, and your pets who are also family. We are all with purpose and are part of God’s plan. So treat your family kindly and remember to love your pets as much as they love you. Thank you for reading and God bless.
