Hey You! Mr. Knight in Shining Armor

What does all fairy-tale have in common?

Knights in shining armor swooping in to save the day. Not only in fairy-tales, but they’re also present in romance novels; often gracing the front cover with sculpt bodies and chiseled faces. In these stories, a handsome prince and a damsel in distress fit together like biscuits and gravy. These charmer are sometimes found on horses and in sword fights. They’ll cross the deepest seas and battle the biggest dragons. They’re every women’s dream.

What should the modern knight in shining armor looks like?

No one knows a woman wants…like a woman. So men, I’ll tell you what we’re looking for in a great knight. The fictional prince charming seems perfect. In addition to being brave and strong, they’re also tall, handsome and muscular. But today, we’re making an exception. Whether you’re tall or short, big or small, handsome or not, we real women realize that real love sees more than just appearance.

Here are some words we use to characterize Prince Charming: brave, protective, strong (physically and mentally), and most importantly—God fearing. He should be ambitious and family oriented. Every woman yearns for a man who is also supportive. When all else fails, we appreciate a knight in shining armor by our side. Basically, we want a man who will love genuinely, the rest tends to fall into place. “In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.” (Ephesians 5:28)

What happens when Mr. Brave Knight can’t save the day?

Every man desires to be their spouse’s brave knight. Hats off to you if you’ve been just that for her. However, we know than sometimes circumstances hinders you from doing all that you need to you. We recognize that you cannot save the day, every day. Its OK, we understand. You’re still our brave knight.

During those dark moments of hardship, the supportive patient woman will stand by your side in return. She’ll offer up prayers in your times of desperation, and reassure you that God will provide. The Proverb 31 woman, the virtuous wife, is worth more than precious rubies. In summary, she isn’t afraid to put her “big-girl-panties” on and get her hands dirty for the good of her family (Proverbs 31:10-31). So don’t allow your ego to get crushed, when you can’t save the day a real woman will step up. Unlike in fairy-tales, it’s OK for a strong brave woman to rescue the Prince in distress.

  1. Great article. Every guy I know likes to fix things even when they’re not broken. It’s just what we do. Sometimes we end up mucking things up more than they were to begin with. I guess the Prov 31 woman really is the compliment to the brave knight. Thanks so much for sharing this. God bless.

The mystery of males “mucking things up” is one yet to be solved. lol… Men would rather “over-fix” instead of stepping back and allowing a woman to be a help-meat. But you’re right, that Proverbs 31 woman will help him put things in perspective.
