The Prayer God Won’t Answer!

Most of us can honestly say that at some point in our Christian walk, we have asked God to remove a trial or suffering from our life.  We have done all we know to do to be obedient to God and follow His Word, yet troubles come–like raindrops hitting an open umbrella!

Even Jesus, in the Garden of Gethsemane, prayed to the Father to take away His greatest suffering: death on a cross in the place of sinners who rejected Him. Still, He ended His prayer with submission to God’s will and plan.

Have you prayed for all your troubles to end?  That’s the prayer God won’t answer.

While living on earth, Jesus was no stranger to trials, pain, and problems. He faced misunderstanding, rejection, hate, and the weight of the sins of the world. Yet He encourages us with His own words:

“I have told you all this so that you will have peace of heart and mind. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows; but cheer up, for I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

The apostle Paul lived with guilt over the  murder of many Christians while he was still called Saul.  He faced a thorn in the flesh that God refused to remove though it tormented him. He was imprisoned in a jail cell with sewage up to his knees. Still, we read his words in 2 Corinthians 12: 8-9:
“Three different times I begged God to make me well again.  Each time he said, ‘No. But I am with you; that is all you need. My power shows up best in weak people.’ Now I am glad to boast about how weak I am; I am glad to be a living demonstration of Christ’s power, instead of showing off my own power and abilities.”
There are reasons for the allowance of difficulties in our lives: all pointing  to God’s love for  us! Trials strengthen and grow our faith, they give us the ability to reach out to others facing the same situations, and they help us to trust our Heavenly Father more. Whatever you are facing today: grief, fear, sorrow, confusion, depression–cheer up! Christ has overcome the world and its sorrows! Trust in Him and seek His help and strength. His power will show up in you!

There are many reason why we face troubles in this life. What are you facing today? Will you allow us to pray for you by leaving a prayer request with us?
