Can We Be Politically Correct and Walk a Path of Righteousness?

Job 36:3 (NLT) I will present profound arguments for the righteousness of my Creator.

Our Heavenly Father, the Almighty Creator of the universe, is the source of all that is holy and righteous. So holy is our Lord that Moses had to hide as he passed by. He could not look upon such holiness and live.

1 Peter 1:15-16 (AMP)   15 But as the One Who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all your conduct and manner of living. 16 For it is written, You shall be holy, for I am holy.

As Christians, we are to be ‘set apart’ to be holy (sanctified.) We are to hunger and thirst after righteousness. Our Lord Jesus was human. He was tempted. And still he remained sinless because He and His Father are One.

To be a follower of Jesus Christ means we strive to live as he lived. Political correctness should not be our concern. Correct thinking, speaking, and living should be our concern. Jesus walked the earth righteously. It is impossible for us to live righteously apart from the Holy Spirit.

Jesus was not politically correct. He challenged the Pharisees and Sadducees. He challenged the customs of the day. Jesus was criticized for associating with sinners and tax collectors. When in the presence of Jesus, women and children knew they were loved and valued. In society, at best, they were considered insignificant.

Today, being correct is valued more than being right. It used to be a good thing to be right. Now it is used as a derogatory term. ‘Right-wing’ and ‘Far-right’ are usually followed by ‘wacko.’ Choosing to support Right-To-Life is not the correct position to take – yet supporting a women’s ‘right to choose’ to sacrifice her own unborn child is. Believing in the sanctity of marriage and that it is to be between one man and one woman is wrong. How odd that, in today’s world, being right and being correct are opposite of each other.

As we pray for revival, may Christians today continue to strive to ‘be holy as He is Holy.’

Isaiah 45:8 (NLT) Open up, O heavens, and pour out your righteousness. Let the earth open wide so salvation and righteousness can sprout up together. I, the Lord, created them.
