Deaf Woman Hears for the First Time

By H.W. Bass

Video has circulated all over the Internet of  Joanne Milne of Gateshead in the U.K., who has been deaf since birth, at the moment when she hears for the first time. This is a beautiful image of someone who is experiencing something that they thought they would never experience. While she is not the only person who has worn an implant and been able to hear after being deaf, she is the embodiment of what the technology is supposed to do. The technology is supposed to help people.

Many people wonder why their friends and family are deaf, blind or sick, but many people do not want to work in God’s timing. It is very hard to work in God’s timing, and it was likely very hard for Joanne and her family to deal with God’s timing when she was born deaf and lived with deafness all her life. The best thing that people can do is press in and wait for something inevitably great to happen.

Habakkuk 2:3 says “For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.”

This is very hard for some people to accept because they feel like they are waiting forever for something to happen, but it is promised right here in the Old Testament. The person who long-suffering, hurting and nervous must remember that these promises have been made by God. However, no one knows when these things will happen besides God. Even Jesus does not always know the ways of the Father, and this means that we should be as content as Jesus is to wait for the Father to act.

When we wait for God, great things happen, and it will happen at the appointed time as discussed in the Word.
