God Takes Pleasure In You

I know, that you know, that our God is an awesome God.  His ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts as is stated in Isaiah 55: 8-9.  I am very thankful for that truth because if I (or anyone I know for that matter) could think like God, this world would have been in a heap of trouble a very long time ago.  Since He is greater than me in every way, I feel secure in putting all my trust and confidence in Him because He cares for me.  (1 Peter 5:7)  He wants me to trust Him and rest in Him and delight in Him.  Psalm 23 supports this truth in verse 4.  No matter where He takes me, His “narrow path” is not so narrow that it requires Him to move from my side.  Never.  He is always there, for me and you, and our age makes no difference.

I experienced a deeper appreciation of this truth this evening as I spent a little time scanning some social media posts.  One person posted a video of her 2 or 3 year old daughter reciting Psalm 23 with a child’s expression of innocence and joy.  Her expressive, sweet voice drew my heart in like a magnet.  Another person posted a video of her 4 year old Down Syndrome daughter singing her favorite song in front of a mirror.  Her delight with the music and the freedom with which she sang was inspiring.  I could tell by her arm motions, facial expressions, and smiles that she was thrilled to the utmost singing a song she liked.  And then another post centered on a feeble old man at the airport, in a wheel chair, whose long, gray hair was unkempt and matted.  God asked one of His well-known servants (who just happened to be right there) to go offer to comb the old man’s hair.  After some discussion about the humility needed for this assignment, she opted to obeyed.  The man, with tears in his eye, kindly provided the brush and thanked this servant.  He mentioned how that he felt he must look a mess returning to his wife after being away in the hospital for so long.  The young and the old, you and I, we can all trust God with the matters of our lives.  Psalm 139:14 tells us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made and He delights in His workmanship!

Some time ago, God gave me a poem/song as a loving reminder of His great love based on Psalm 139.  I think it includes you, too.

I will always love you, precious child of wonder, pure delight

You are all I’ve longed for, press in close I’ll hold you tight

My pleasant thoughts of you are so vast you could never know

And each time you wake know that you will find that I’m always here with you

Rejoice!  Your God smiles when He sees you.  And that is the truth.
