Whooo Can Find Wisdom?

Let the wise listen to these proverbs and become even wiser. Let those with understanding receive guidance. Proverbs 1:5 (NLT)

Perhaps you’re old enough to remember back in grade school when they passed out pocket New Testaments with Psalms and Proverbs included. I think it is safe to say that most of our elected officials are old enough to have received one when they were in school too. How many of them do you think may have actually read theirs?

Of course, today it is out of the question to even consider sharing such information in most of our public schools. The younger generations would probably be shocked at the mere suggestion. Before long, someone would most certainly ask, ‘Whatever happened to the separation of church and state?’ But of course one cannot find this ‘wall of separation’ outlined anywhere in the national documents that we hold in such high regard?
…Well, at least the patriots do anyway.

These proverbs will give insight to the simple, knowledge and discernment to the young.              Proverbs 1:4 (NLT)

Despite the crusade to extract God from every aspect of public life, it would be advantageous to our representatives in government to peruse the wisdom contained on the pages. As human beings, we are relational. The entire Bible is about how  to be in a right relationship with God and with our fellow man. They are words of sapience that we can all benefit from.

One cannot listen to a politician for long without hearing about what he or she plans to do for the poor. Promising entitlements has become part of the plan for building support. This happens for one reason – it works. Good governance, however, involves more than suiting up and playing DC Santa Claus.

15 A wicked ruler is as dangerous to the poor
as a roaring lion or an attacking bear.
16 A ruler with no understanding will oppress his people,
but one who hates corruption will have a long life.
Proverbs 28:15-17 (NLT)

If more of ‘we the people’ would consider opening even the Proverbs alone, we would glean a wealth of wisdom. Not only would relationships improve, but we would learn to recognize the value of perspicacity when choosing leaders. Think of what the condition of our nation can be if we would only embrace these blessed words of wisdom. We would soon learn that it can be applied to our lives daily.

That’s the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty. 14 God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (NLT)

  1. Very good instructions in your article regarding this issue. I remember those little bibles. Saddened that God’s wisdom has been ignored when He is the Author and giver of life and has all wisdom. Only He knows how we work and how hopeless we are apart from Him.
Thank you for trying to point people towards God through His word. 🙂
