Breaking Free From Old Mindsets

If you want to move beyond your current limitations, you must break free from old mindsets that have hindered you. Old mindsets are destructive thinking patterns such as defeat, failure, worry, negativity, anxiety, doubt or fear. Maybe you feel stuck in your thought patterns, you want to be free of negative mental attitudes but no matter how hard you try, you are defeated every time.

Positive thinking alone will not tear down years of having a wrong thought life.

Understand that your adversary, Satan, will bring discouragement and defeat as you begin to shift your thoughts to having the mind of Christ. Be encouraged though, as you PUSH through these roadblocks set up by the enemy-you will conquer these intrusive and destructive thoughts. The key to victory is not to give up when it feels like you are being crushed on every side.

If you want a thought life that radiates joy, peace, love, patience, hope, and strength, it begins with daily renewing of the mind.

Keep going even if you have been renewing your mind through the Word of God and it still feels like your mind is a mess. Usually before a breakthrough, Satan sets up vain imaginations (or worst-case scenarios) in our minds to get our thoughts aligned to his plans and purposes which is always destruction of some type. During the time when you are changing your old mindset to reflect God’s thoughts, there will be a battle. However, you are in training like an athlete.

You must discipline your thought life like an athlete in training.

Put in the hard work to discipline your mind, and eventually you will be set-free from harmful ways of thinking.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the perfect will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2

Renew your mind by reading God’s Word daily, mediating on scriptures that apply to your circumstances, and worshipping through praise music.

Be mindful of what you are putting into your mind, in other words, what you are reading and listening to.

Be aware that the morning time, when you first awaken, can be the most difficult time to set your mind right. Sometimes when I get up in the morning and not even up good, the battle for my mind has already started.

When you get up in the morning say out loud a scripture that encourages you.

Learn to start your day right and SET YOUR MIND. A Favorite scripture for me in the morning is: This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24

Be diligent in setting your mind daily on things above that are eternal, not the things of this world that are temporary.

Set your minds on things above, not on things on the earth. Colossians 3:12

You can choose your thoughts!

That’s right you do not have to ponder, dwell or accept random thoughts that can come into your mind. Our thoughts will affect our behavior, perspective on life, attitude, and overall health.

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. Proverbs 23:7

In other words, we become what we think! A lot of our problems can be traced back to a negative mindset.

Mind renewal is the key to successful Christian living. To be set free of old, damaging mindsets, one must change their thinking to what God says about the situation.

Daily mediate on scriptures in the areas that you are struggling with until your mind is completely renewed in that particular area.
