Our Hope: Share Your Blessings

“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me … ”  (Matthew 25:35, ESRD).

The LORD your God has blessed you.  Whether you recognize the blessings or not, they are there, they were given by Him, and they belong to you.  The question is, what will you do with them, once you see them for what they are?  Will you keep them to yourself, or will you share them?

“I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me” (Matthew 25:36).

All people who exist on this planet, earth, have experienced at least two blessings immediately at birth: life and God.  They may not recognize these blessings at an early age, and many will never realize them.  Blessings must be received and understood to be considered blessings.  That does not negate the fact that God gives them.  And yes, He also gives them to the unsaved.  You see, the presence of a blessing in a person’s life may actually draw them to seek the LORD.  Never assume that a blessing received by a lost person is anything less than that.  The reception and understanding of the blessing is the true value, both to the Giver, and the receiver.

When we know we have received blessings, are we supposed to hoard them, to hold them to ourselves, making sure everyone knows, “They are mine, they are mine!”?  Hardly!  God gives a blessing to us because He loves us.  Often it is given because we have been obedient to Him and His commands.  Other times it is our Father blessing His child, simply because He has love for that child.  When we follow Him in truth and love, and He blesses us, we will want to enjoy our blessings, but more than that, we will want to share them.

“And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me’ ” (Matthew 25:40).

We can share our blessings in many ways.  We can pay for the person’s meal behind us in the drive thru lane at fast food restaurants.  We can be in a restaurant and pay for a family’s meal on our way out.  We can tip generously, whether the service or food was great or not.  We can offer service to someone who has no one to do it for them.  We can offer hospitality in our homes to those who are not able to do the same for others.  Those in hospitals, nursing homes, and other institutions would welcome a visit from us.  It is not always about money; blessing is about showing unconditional love.

When we provide for the needs of others we are serving Jesus.  He is Our Hope, and because He is, we have received the greatest blessing, which is salvation.  Since He does not withhold blessings from us, why should we not want to share them with others, that they may discover their hope, Jesus the Christ?  Share your blessings; you will find that sharing them brings blessings in return!

Have you ever held a blessing from God to yourself, and not shared it?  If so, how did that make you feel later?  Please go to www.mystoryofgrace.com and post your testimony for us to share.  Once more, you have an opportunity to share your blessings by sharing with us!

Blessings!
