Faith In the Midst of the Refiner’s Fire

Has your faith ever been through the fire?
Has it ever been refined by the scorching heat?
Have trials ever put you at the crossroads,
Where faith and logic meet?

Have you ever suffered from pain or affliction?
Or suffered loss and tragedy of various kinds?
Or maybe been wrought by such confusion and chaos,
That you thought you might lose your mind?

Fire tests the gold and refines the silver,
The searing heat removes the impurities.
The trials and tests help assure that our faith rests,
On the Holy One we were created to please.

We must always try to stay strong and continue in faith,
for the Spirit gives us the strength to endure temptation.
We must be faithful to death to get the Crown of Life,
For the Kingdom of God is entered through much tribulation.

(Revelation 2:10, Acts  14:22)

Seeking to please and obey God, men often get upset,
And we might find ourselves in a furnace ablaze.
Yet if we stand strong in faith God will join us in the flames,
And His mighty deliverance will surely amaze.

(Daniel 3)

When our faith is put through the fire we are usually met
With anger, fear and other negative emotions.
The testing and trials require courage and strength,
To face our troubles with continued devotion.

In His grace God has not given us a spirit of fear,
But of power and of love and of a sound mind.
So in our troubles and grief we can grow in our faith,
Especially if with God’s will we are properly aligned.

(2 Timothy 1:7)

The Lord is the Spirit and the Spirit brings freedom,
In Him alone we must believe and trust.
For the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith,
And living by faith is a job for the just.

(2 Corinthians 3:17, Romans 1:17)

What trials have you endured that tested and purified your faith? What helps you stand strong in face of adversity and stay in faith when it would be so much easier to fear?

About Jason Herrington

Avatar
After spending fifteen years of his life aggressively pursing financial success in various business endeavors, Jason became disillusioned with what was being taught by the success “experts.” After many years searching for answers amongst new-age teachings, the mystical, the occult, and other spiritual practices, he found that nothing made a lasting difference in his life--which was becoming increasingly confusing and wrought with hardship. No matter how hard he worked he was left with more problems and questions. Then, a few years later he found the one solution that would change his life forever--giving his life to Jesus Christ. Once a strong skeptic and opponent of Christianity, now Jason is completely in awe of the God who, in His mercy, still made Himself known to him, despite his aversion. Now he is passionate and committed to searching for answers exclusively from God’s Word. His ministry seeks to target any and all individuals attracted to the success and personal development industry, as well as the new age movement, and deliver God’s truth.
