Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

Psalm 139:13 (NLT) You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb.

While people on both sides of the issue debate when life begins, the simple fact remains that when a physician performs an abortion a living being ceases to be alive. Some lawmakers may proclaim the need to protect ‘reproductive rights.’ The founding fathers did not include this trendy ‘right’ in the precious documents on which this country was formed.

Individual rights are indeed important – they are at the core of our American principles. But is it wise for leadership to place ‘reproductive rights’ above everything, even life itself as well as the religious liberties that are documented? Of course not. Life is not something that is open to interpretation. It is quite simple. Either life is present or it isn’t. That which does not possess life is inanimate. If something is no longer living, but once was, it is then dead. We are beyond the ‘blob of tissue’ argument that dehumanized the baby growing within the womb. Modern technology has enabled us to see the face of the ’tissue.’

There is no logic in the validation of personhood based on whether an newly created child’s own mother joyfully announces that she is going to ‘have a baby.’ or if she is the reluctant mother declaring, ‘I’m pregnant.’ We sanitize the unpleasantness of the truth with politically correct phrases like ‘reproductive health,’ and the fabricated ‘war on women.’

Senator Blumenthal recently introduced S1696. It is in essence, a ‘war’ on the very Constitution that sets the standard for our representative form of government.  We are a country with a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. Senator Blumenthal’s proposed bill is an effort to override state abortion laws that officials have passed. – Officials who were elected by the people.

Most people don’t have time to listen to the hours of testimony that goes on in Washington D.C. We get our information delivered to us via the news media and however they choose to slant it. Listen to the testimony of the witnesses and decide for yourself whether it is truly the health of women that is the concern… or if it is the ‘health’ of one political party or the other.
