Strategic Prayer and Action: Time to Take Down a Giant

For years, many of us have prayed against abortion. The negative exposure Planned Parenthood has been getting this year is a specific answer to this word:

But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light” (Ephesians 5:13)

I believe Planned Parenthood has been brought into the light for the public, but even more to refocus the spiritual cross hairs of the church; and we are on the verge of seeing this monster suffer a mortal blow. As we strategize how to take down the spiritual power behind this entity, I sense the Spirit asking me personally to take this three-pronged approach:

  1. Deliver spiritual “airstrikes” on abortion strongholds through extended and specific prayer. If you watched the questioning of Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood, both the questions and answers were dismal. Those questioning her seemed to bungle opportunities, and Cecile herself appeared as a fork-tongued snake, for she was either lying under oath or she really did not know her “trade.” Nevertheless, I believe the negative exposure added  momentum to a campaign against the death-machine known as Planned Parenthood, and that the winds of change are shifting.
  2. Add legs to the prayer by calling your senators/representatives in Washington, and by contacting organizations that support Planned Parenthood. This requires a sacrifice of time and convenience, but God honors this. I pray before I call each one that the gospel advances, and that I am speaking from the Spirit and not my flesh. My worst encounter thus far was with the March of Dimes. (Yes, the March of Dimes of all organizations funds Planned Parenthood, which I pointed out to the rep, is like discovering the American Lung Association gives donations to Phillip Morris, except far worse). Deceived people are masters at reproducing their delusions, and the March of Dimes, sadly, reminded me of Psalm 5:9: “For there is no truth in their mouth; their inmost self is destruction; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongue.” The rep was defensive and angry about why they should give money designated for premature babies to an organization that force-delivers and kills premature babies.
  3. Be part of the solution to replace the giant with a godly alternative. Informed Choice of Iowa, a Pro-Life pregnancy center, said in their recent newsletter that they are prepared to take over all the health services (STD testing, etc.) offered by Planned Parenthood across the state of Iowa. One thing they said really stayed with me: “It is not enough to topple the giant. Something good must come in to take its place, otherwise a greater monster than PP could step in” (per Matth 12:45). Support your local pro-life pregnancy service center through contributions, prayer, volunteering, and however else the Spirit leads. Again, this is a spiritual sacrifice acceptable to God (1 Peter 2:5).

Is there anything dearer to the heart of God than vulnerable babies? How would God have you be involved in this battle?
