Perfect Inability: 10 Things That God Cannot Do

Friends, today I am going to talk about the things that God cannot do. No, it’s not Pick-On-God Day. These are things His Holy Word tells us He cannot do, and it’s good that we know them. So humor me for a few minutes and let’s look at this list together.

God Cannot Tell A lie

All biblical knowledge stems off the understanding that the Word is living and God-breathed (2 Tim 3:16). In trusting that God’s Word is true, we are able to press forward and gain the wisdom and knowledge shared in the Holy Bible.

Num 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

God Cannot Behold Sin

God detests sin and He wants nothing to do with it. As soon as we repent, the Holy Bible tells us that He casts our transgressions as far as the east is from the west (Psa 103:12). This is the way his arms were positioned on the cross, spread east to west, as He took on all the sin of mankind, past, present, and future.

Hab 1:13 Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?

God Cannot Fail

God does not make mistakes. He orchestrates His perfect plan with precision and masterfully connects everything, so that all things work together for good to those who are called according to His purpose (Rom 8:28). Nothing is too hard for our Lord. He even created our universe in six days. I believe He could’ve done it in an instant, but stretching out over six days fulfilled a greater purpose and also provided an example to man to labor six days and rest on the seventh (Exo 20:11).

Jer 32:17 Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee.

God Cannot Die Again

Jesus died once on the cross and that’s the only time in will ever happen. In fact, Jesus laid down His life on the cross by His own declaration at the exact moment He chose for it to happen (Matt 27:50). When He spent three days and nights in the grave (Matt 12:40), He claimed the keys to death and hell (Rev 1:18), and death no longer has dominion over Him.

Romans 6:9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.

God Cannot Be Mocked

God cannot be put under scrutiny by us and have it be worth a nickel. If you try to mock Him, you are simply going to reap the whirlwind. He is not subject to our authority, nor do we have any dominion over Him. So, be careful how you approach the throne of God.

Gal 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

God Cannot Go Weary

We may need to sleep, but God is always alert to what is happening. He does not faint, He does not take naps, and He does not take trips and abandon us. He is true to us 24/7.

Isaiah 40:28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

God Cannot Flood The Entire Earth

God will never flood the entire earth again. That is why we see rainbows after it rains sometimes. They are a symbol of this very promise to us (Gen 9:16).

Gen 9:15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.

God Cannot Disclose The Date Of The Second Coming

God the Father is the only one who knows the time of Jesus Christ’s second coming. We can know the season, but not even Jesus or the angels know when this glorious event will take place. Just make sure you are prepared!

Matt 13:32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

God Cannot Be Pleased Without Faith

The only way to please God is through faith. This is the way God designed for us to connect with Him. If you have no faith, your relationship is lacking or dead. Find ways to jumpstart it today.

Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

God Cannot Provide Salvation To Those Who Reject Him

God loves you, but if you reject Him, He cannot give you eternal life. If you do not have a relationship with Jesus Christ, you can click on the link and learn how to accept Him into your life today.

John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Final Thought

Just because God cannot do certain things doesn’t take away from who He is. Would we really be satisfied with a god who lied and didn’t set standards for having a relationship with us? Of course not! These things are part of what make Him perfect and worthy of our praise. Thank you for reading and God bless.
