We Are God’s Reflection

If you have an extremity amputated, are you still you? If you have both breasts removed in a fight for your life, are you still you?  What exactly are we human beings made up of?

There are many opinions and debates about whether or not we are the result of billions of years of mistakes and accidents, but my heart and inner being cry out otherwise. Does yours? We are special! Mankind is far and above any species that ever walked this world. We are not some random accident. There are parts of us that get blundered together because we are so tightly knit together. What exactly are we beyond the physical?

We have a heart.

I’m not talking about your physical cardiac muscle, the old pump and ticker. I am talking about where our attitude resides and where our free will operates from.  I am talking about the choices we make.  There is a lot to be said of the heart.  It can get away from us and it can lead us around (instead of us leading it around)wanting all types of things. Proverbs 4:23(NLT) wisely says, “Guard your heart above all else for it determines the course of your life.”

We have a soul.

The soul is the essence of ourselves, our unique stamp and step into the universe. We all have a soul and that soul will live on, it is immortal.  Where it lives on is our choice on whether we accept the sacrifice offered in our place.  There is a mysterious depth to us that our minds cannot even begin to touch.  I like what is says in Ephesians 1:4(NLT) “Even before He made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in His eyes.”  He saw our baby souls and loved us since forever.

We have a spirit.

The spirit is the essence of God’s image.  He has given us His likeness, what a thing to ponder! We are unlike anything ever created.  We carry God’s image.  What an honor.  Genesis 1:27(NLT) says, “God created human beings in His own image.  In the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.”  If we don’t care for our spirits, they will whither and grow bitter.  Like our soul, our spirit is immortal.  After these bodies of ours fade away our inner being will live on forever.

Do you know where your inner being will go when your body fades away? Don’t be so content in life that you never consider it, time is short.
