JC FILMS: With Jason Campbell-An Interview

I have recently had the opportunity to interview Jason Campbell, President of JC Films; a prolific industry since its inception in 2014, of faith and family films that provides entertainment for families, but also incorporates and encourages those to become involved in helping, with production clubs all across America.

There are ample opportunities for those who wish to be involved on many different levels. Their website speaks of how you can get involved, and what their mission and their goals are all about, please be sure to check it out.

Jason took time out of his exceedingly busy schedule to be interviewed by us at The Bottom Line, Ministries.  We thank him for his time, efforts, and candor.  Additionally, we would like to show our appreciation for this ministry for sharing Christian-based films, while offering so many ways for others to become involved with their faith in God.

Let’s get straight to the interview, as I’m sure you will be very interested to hear what Jason has to say. I know I was!

CD –Hello Jason. Can you please introduce yourself and give us give us a brief overview of what JCFilms represents, along with who you are, what your role is, and what some of your goals are?

JC: Since 2014, JCFilms Studios has been producing faith and family films.  Our mission is to change the world for Christ while providing people of faith the opportunity to be in involved in Christian films. Here is what WE DO!

  • JCFILMS STUDIOS has produced over 70 faith and family films.
  • JCFILMS STUDIOS operate several faith and family PRODUCTION CLUBS across America.  Each location offers both education and opportunity for people of faith to get involved in Christian movie making.
  • JCFILMS STUDIOS creates opportunity for people of faith the unique opportunity to get involved in all aspects of the faith-based film industry.

We feel that NOW IS THE TIME for people of faith to write that script, take that acting class, start or join a PRODUCTION CLUB and get involved…and we want to HELP!

CD: Wow- that’s phenomenal! Thank you for that dynamic introduction!

I have been reading about your company and am super impressed. Plus, I have seen some of your films as well. I personally only watch Christian films. Anything else I’ve no interest in -But that is my personal opinion. I welcome these films, as far as I’m concerned, there can never be too many Christian films. I’d love to see Christian content and films flood the industry and media. That being said, how do you hope to reach those who are not of faith, and are not necessarily part of your audience base?

JC: Let’s face it, Jesus told simple stories under trees, and He changed the world.  That’s what we are all about.  Stories are stories, the genre really doesn’t matter.

CD: Yes, that’s true – Jesus did tell many stories, and I agree people love stories.

Can you share how JCFilms embodies the principle found in Colossians 3:23 (“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men”) in its filmmaking process?

JC: We strive to do everything in excellence.  We have a saying here at JCFilms Studios, ‘work as if it all depends on you, and pray as if it all depends on God.’

CD: Oh! I really like that saying. I might borrow it going forward!

What are the key objectives JCfilms hopes to achieve in the next five years, and how do they align with the company’s mission to spread the Christian faith?

JC: Our main objective is to get more people of faith involved in Christian content creation.  From film to social media, how can we use our creativity to make Heaven bigger!

CD: That sounds fabulous. Amen. I’ll pray and hope that will come to fruition.

In light of Matthew 5:16 (“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven”), how does JCfilms ensure its films reflect this scripture?

JC: When God grants us that creative gift, we are to use it to bring glory to Him.  We believe that.  In addition, all of our films have some redemptive story to point people to Jesus.

CD: That is so true. Bringing glory to God is what it’s all about, I agree.

How does JCFilms approach storytelling to resonate with audiences in a world where many feel disconnected from faith?

JC: We know that films change culture.  It is so important that people of faith be engaged in this process.  We have to level out the playing field when it comes to what we have TV and the movies we stream in our homes.

CD: Oh yes that is so true, full heartedly agree there. So important today especially.

With the goal of changing the world for Christ, how does JCfFilms measure the impact of its films on viewers’ faith and lives?

JC: We hear from people every day that have watched one of our films and appreciate the message from that film.  Now that we have our own streaming platform, JC+ we are reaching so many more people around the world.

CD: Reaching around the world – every Christian’s hope and desire to do that.

Considering Proverbs 22:1 (“A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold”), how does JCFilms prioritize its reputation and integrity in the industry?

JC: The film business, whether it be Christian, or secular is fueled by egos.  The reality is, is that people do get their feelings hurt when they are not selected for a particular part or position.  But, that is all part of the process.  We have found it to be very transparent and attempt to be overly exploratory in understanding expectations from those that want to make faith films.

CD: Yes, egos seems to be in place irrespective of the genre, it is something that all humans deal with and have been exposed to, thank you for that answer.
How does JCfilms navigate the challenges of producing faith-based content in a secular media environment?

JC: We are not a secular ministry, so we stay away from that.  Everything we do is about making Heaven bigger!

CD:  Yes!  Heaven bigger – love it-all for that!

Are you willing to share a testimony of how one of your films has strengthened someone’s faith or brought them closer to Christ?

JC: What I see most is the young people.  Here we have an entire generation of talented young people looking to this new social media culture and trying to fit in. If we can harness this talent in a safe and positive way to make wholesome faith content, we win!  This is what I see from moms and dads of these kids.  They do want their kids to pursue their dreams of acting, storytelling and filmmaking, but they want them to do it a safe and Christian environment.

CD: I can see how parents would feel that way, and how wonderful that JCFilms can reassure and ease their minds should their children want to explore acting, film making etc.

How does JCFilms plan to innovate and adapt to the rapidly changing landscape of film production and distribution while staying true to its faith-based roots?

JC: Well, the data shows that people want more inspiring faith and family content.  The great news is that Hollywood will never be able to deliver on truth films.  Truth films being defined as what God can do in hearts of people to point them to Him.  So, the possibilities are endless.  We have our own streaming platform JC+.

CD: That is so encouraging in a world that is lately been so chaotic and dark. To hear that current data is revealing that individuals want more faith films and family content brings the light into the dark – bringing God into their lives. Beautiful, so glad to hear that.

This ends the interview with Jason Campbell. And we look forward to seeing more faith based films, and family content in the years to come. We pray for their continued success and growth and the LORD’s guidance in all they do and say.

You can get involved with one of their Production Clubs opening up all over the United States, or be a part of one of their Teen or Adult Film Camps.
