God Doesn’t Use Google

I asked my boss at the hospital about some medical equipment. He answered, “I don’t know. Google it.”

So, if you have questions about a disease, treatment for that disease, some historical event, some Bible teaching, how to fix a car, or sink drain, you name it – what do you do? You go to Google – or some other search engine. Google often refers you to a YouTube video demonstrating how to fix your “thing-a-ma-bob” or “thingamajig.”

You are trying to understand some new concepts you have heard about. You google it and find more explanations than you wanted or ever dreamed about. You want to buy some item but don’t know where to find it. You google it, locate it, and buy it.

God doesn’t have to do any of this. Psalm 147:5: “His understanding is infinite.”  What about an event in the past – or the future? Isaiah 46:9-10  “Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:”

God is eternal and not bound by time. Jesus, living about 1900 years after Abraham, could truthfully say, “Before Abraham was, I am.”  (John 8:58).

When looking for a man or woman for a specific job, God doesn’t have to check the records, consult a psychologist, or receive character witnesses. “For the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart. (! Samuel 16:7)

God doesn’t have to consult a map or a travel guide for location information.    “Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off? Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? Saith the Lord.” (Jer. 23:23,24). He was and is, and will be, there –at all times.

God knew all about Job and his lifestyle.    “I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid? Doth not he see my ways, and count all my steps?” (Job 31:1, 4)

God doesn’t have to study science – astronomy, geology, biology, and other disciplines  –  to know about the heavens, the earth, and animal and plant life. (Job 38-39). He was the Designer/Creator, and he challenges Job and all humanity with these words, “Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if thou hast understanding.” (Job 38:4). “For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited:  I am the Lord, and there is none else.”  (Isaiah 45:18). Proverbs 3:19 states, “The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.”

Did it ever occur to you that nothing has ever occurred to God? He is never surprised because He knew what would happen. God is omniscient. That means He knows all things. He doesn’t need to learn. He can teach all things. He never forgets. He knows everything that has happened and will happen. He knew everything science discovered long before they discovered it. His knowledge, wisdom, and understanding are perfect.

Have you thought about the reality that everything you have learned, God already knew? All the accumulated knowledge and wisdom in the world does not come close to the treasure house of the knowledge and wisdom of God. “O the depth of the riches, both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? Or who hath been his counselor?” (Romans 11:33-34).

The foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. (1 Corinthians 1:25)

Ponder that He knows everything about you, and there is nothing you can hide from Him.  Hebrews 4:13 records, “Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.”

Today, around the world, people are questioning God and His Word.   They would elevate man’s wisdom above God’s. They willingly accept man’s minimal knowledge and wisdom over the infinite wisdom of God. They choose to ignore the fact that throughout history, present science has overturned past science. Science and man’s knowledge are ever-growing – and being revised when some new “fact” appears.

God’s Word remains the same – and will remain. He has access to all the facts, while man has only part of the facts and minimal knowledge. Contrast God’s Word, which says, “Forever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.” (Psalm 119:89).

We will all someday give an account to God, who knows everything  – including our deepest thoughts and hidden actions. “It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”  (Hebrews 9:27). “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23).

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8). “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”  He paid the penalty for us so we could freely receive the gift of God. “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me.”  (John 14:6). “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12).

Sinner, trust Jesus today. Don’t lean on the weak crutch of the wisdom of men.

Christian, trust Jesus and His Word for your daily life and Christian growth. Let His Word be your authority and guide.
