Love Leads To Grace

John 13:34-35  A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Our love for one another is governed by the biblical mandate set forth by Christ and a want to see all people come to a saving relationship with Christ. At least that is how a born-again believer should act. But how we act on this command is going to be slightly different for every single person because God created each one of us uniquely with certain characteristics.

In contrast to biblically loving one another the world has its own deeply flawed understanding of loving one another. By worldly standards we are to let everyone do whatever they deem is right. And when we don’t affirm them in their sinful desires we are labeled as hateful and bigoted to say the least. The world worships the idol of self and is tossed to and fro by every wave of new thought that comes into fruition. When this line of thinking is played out you end up with sheer and utter chaos. “Dogs and cats living together, Mass Hysteria!” as the great Philosopher Bill Murray puts it. Chaotic dissonance is the result, and the only cure is Christ.

Another call is for Christians to be in the world not of the world.

1 John 2:15-17 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.

So, we see in the above few verses from 1 John it states, “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”

All these sinful worldly desires do nothing to promote a loving people. A loving people are a people that strive to promote the driving out of those types of sins.  But we must first work diligently to drive them out of our own lives. If we are not recognizing our own sins, repenting of them and turning to Christ for forgiveness we are in no condition to offer any advice to the worldly people living in unrepentant sin.

The next 2 verses below show further how we are to treat one another. The whole 4th chapter of Ephesians is a great read in this matter. Paul lays out beautifully the plan God has for us who have been saved through Christ.

Ephesians 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

1 Corinthians 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

The KJV uses charity in the 1 Corinthians verse, most other translations use love in place of charity. Love is what brings us all together. When we are of one mind loving Christ first and striving to love others with that same love we show true grace. Grace that comes from the Father through His Son.

Sharing the love with others is sharing the saving message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

  1. Hi Matt,
    Thanks for another great message.
It’s so good that we all have this platform to promote the LORD’s Word.
    Have a blessed day~

  2. Very well stated and we do observe the behavior of people not willing to call sin what it is. There are muddled remarks when people are confronted with simple questions and remarks are made about everything being relevant. “Who are we to judge?” is a common response. Or the challenge to the one asking the question being accused of a judgmental spirit if they state what they believe to be a scriptural truth.
The lies of the devil causes blindness, ignorance, and perhaps an argumentative attitude.
I watched a video yesterday about a pro life woman asking people at a beachfront area if they would sign a petition to save sea turtle eggs and there was no problem with that but then she asked the same individuals to sign a petition to save the unborn human babies in the womb and it became a complicated issue for the safety of human life.
Somehow they could identify that there were turtles developing in the eggshell and protection was needed to make these baby turtles get safely to the ocean but the baby in the womb wasn’t somehow a person or even a baby but tissue and even one person saw no reason to protect this baby because of a lame excuse that it could have a hard life if it was to be born. Sorry but that was a crazy idea to come up with. That certainly isn’t a way to decide the right for the life of a human being that has a soul and made in the image of God.
