“Mysterious” Voice: The Miraculous Rescue of Baby Lily

It was a “mysterious” voice that led to the rescue of a baby girl trapped upside down in her infant seat in a car submerged in  freezing water.  Nearly two weeks ago,  Baby Lily Groesbeck was involved in an accident that took the life of her mother.  Lily managed to survive strapped in her seat for 14 hours with her head just above the water level inside the vehicle.

A fisherman discovered the car submerged in the river and summoned police and paramedics. Little Lily, at eighteen months of age and  unable to talk yet, could not call for help so it appeared that there were no survivors in the vehicle. Then, an officer on the scene, Jared Warner, heard a voice; “To me, it was plain as day. I remember hearing a voice that didn’t sound like a child, just saying ‘help me.’ ”

Lily was soon discovered and rescued from the icy water. Less than two weeks later, she is making great progress: happily singing and playing again. Her father and other family members give credit to all involved in the rescue.

Many are calling the voice leading to Lily’s discovery, a miracle.  Yet, others are calling it coincidence. For anyone who’s been saved from certain death, the idea of a miracle taking place isn’t be difficult to believe …

It’s likely that Baby Lily was unaware of how desperate her situation really was. But maybe you are in a situation right now and you are very aware that there seems to be no way out. The truth is this; God sees you right where you are, and He does hear your calls for help when you reach out to Him.

  1. Such an incredible story…It is sad that even we who believe in a miracle-working God are tempted to discount ‘voices’. We can’t ‘fit’ it with what we know, so we try to box God into our little heads. I rejoice that my GOD is mighty and able and WAY bigger than me. He can work anyway He wants…I do not have to understand it. THANK YOU.
