Christian College Students Go On National Gospel Tour

Have you ever dreamed of doing something big for God? Some students at the University of Mobile decided to do positive outreach on a national level. This private university, affiliated with the Alabama Baptist State Association, set a goal of sharing the gospel of spiritual rebirth in every state in America.

The “Great American Road Trip” commenced on August 19, 2014. The dean of the School of Christian Ministry said, “We prayed and said it was doable. When school began, we launched. Our students took on this initiative to make God known across the nation.” Groups of students and faculty went on mission trips, did service projects, and performed concerts during times when school was not in session. The United States was divided into regions and designated people kept track of the states. One of the organizers said, “To the best of our knowledge…we are the first university or seminary that has taken the Gospel to all 50 states in one academic school year.” The road trip was completed in April, 2015. This is an example of a God-sized goal in keeping with the Great Commission given in Matthew  28:19-20, to go into all the world and preach the Gospel…” These college students did that in word, song, and deed.

As they went out they did not know where they would sleep at night. They took with them nothing more than a vision and a heart for people to know about the love and grace of God. They followed the example of Jesus mentioned in Mark 8:27. “And Jesus went out, along with His disciples to the villages…and on the way He questioned His disciples, saying to them, ‘Who do people say that I am?'” However, in every case, beds were provided for each person. The students saw first hand that when there is obedience to the prompting of the Holy Spirit to do something, God will lead the way and provide the means.

The philosophies and beliefs of our college students can set the tone of a nation. The students at the University of Mobile took the lead in living out their faith that made a spiritual difference in the lives of people in all 50 states.

Isaiah 55:11 So shall my Word be which goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.

You may not  be able to go to all 50 states, but where CAN you go, trusting God to meet your needs?
