Emily’s Hair

Emily is a lot like other three year old girls.  She likes girly things such as makeup and dresses.  However, in some ways she is also gifted.  She is blessed with a beautiful head of hair and a heart full of compassion.  You see, Emily’s parents talked to her about the children who had cancer that could not have hair.  They told her about how these kids needed wigs and how she could help them by donating her hair.  Emily was so excited to donate her hair for these children and only asked for two small things in return.  She wanted her uncle to cut her hair and she wanted her favorite dolly’s hair cut first.

In Matthew 19:14, Jesus tells us, “Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”.  We must be like little Emily and have such compassion.  We must reach out to the sick, whether it’s giving hair, or giving things such as food or clothing.  We must be have our heart filled with compassion just like little Emily.
