Joyful Blessing is Contagious

Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed. (Proverbs 11:11 NIV)

My prayer buddy, Kim, recently told me that her son-in-law, Zack, works in the same chiropractor clinic my son went for treatment. I told her that I met Zack and he is a nice person. Then, her reply stunned me. She said, “Now I know you will become a blessing to Zack.”

Why did Kim say that? My first thought is that Kim is a very humble person who always thanks God for what she has received, including compliment. Meanwhile, Kim is compassionate and loves to encourage people.

As a result, her word is like an invisible driving force to motivate my heart to feel grateful to God, who works through the Christian staffs in this clinic to help my son recover from his back pain. Therefore, I felt joyful to give cards written with my prayer of blessing, plus a little gift to the brothers and sisters working in this clinic as my appreciation.

The bible says: “Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted.” (Prov 11:11) If one saint’s good word can influence and pass blessing to another person, then imagine when the joyful blessing may be spread more powerfully than virus to the whole city.

As a matter of fact, Jesus is the first one, who came to the world to bless with His good news of forgiveness and freedom, then His salvation reaches to each individual. And through one person at a time, the whole world has been catching His fire of blessing.

Don’t underestimate the power of your word from your mouth. Would you like to choose to speak truth of blessing in love to lift up yourself, family members, friends, neighbors, strangers, or even enemies, to spread the joyful blessing to the whole city and nations?

Prayer:

May God sanctify our lips with His truth so that we may speak blessing in love to exalt a city, where people shall come out of darkness to glorify Jesus Christ, who comes to bless the world by the power of Creator God. In Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.
