Are You One Of God’s Sheep?

In the area where I live there are a lot of dogs that are on busy roads and even in parking lots of stores. Dog owners have failed to keep them safe and secure, allowing them to wander off into dangerous environments. How many of these animals have lost all sense of where they are? These dogs have gone astray.

The Bible compares people not to dogs, but to sheep. Isaiah 53:6 says, “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way…”  Too many people “have turned away from listening to the truth and wandered off into myths”(II Timothy 4:4). They have gone astray from sound biblical teaching, and like sheep, are following some other teaching, or someone other than God, and gone their own way, being scattered away from Him. This has resulted in many following false teachers, or the “voices” of social media, entertainment, politicians, government, and even some pastors, all crying out “Come, follow me.”

Sheep listen to the voice of their shepherd. The only voice to listen to is that of Jesus who says in John 10:27“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.” Not only will that keep one from going astray, but also be kept safe and secure in the sheepfold of Christ, not wandering like dogs on busy roads, unprotected and lost with no sense of where one is.

Many lost souls are wandering around in spiritual darkness, without God, and with no hope. They are not attuned to the voice of the Good Shepherd. Therefore, they are not experiencing the peace, hope, and eternal security in the loving arms of God. Isaiah 40:11 says, “He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms. He will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those who are young.”

Are you like a lost sheep, astray with no sense of where you are in life? No one seems to care about you? Jesus will go after just one lost sheep (Matthew 18:12-14). Call on Jesus, the Good Shepherd, to be your Savior, who died on the cross for your sins, and rose from the dead so that you can have eternal life in God’s presence. Then you can speak the words of Psalm 23:1-4.

”The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

  1. A great way of showing both sides of life by the choices we make. Hoping many of our youth will see the errors not only of their peers but the examples that adults display.
Should anyone see themselves in danger and heading for destruction, may they see that it isn’t too late for them to turn to the Savior and be made whole.
The only source for mercy and grace comes from the only One who can give them inward peace for He is the Prince of Peace!
Thank you for writing this message of hope and healing.
