The Light Shineth In Darkness

John 1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Darkness today feels thicker than ever — moral confusion, spiritual blindness, cruelty, division, and a world that seems to celebrate what God calls destructive. Yet Scripture reminds us that darkness has never understood the light, never defeated it, and never will.

To love God in this age is to carry His light boldly, even when the world mocks it. It is to shine with compassion when hatred is easier, to stand for truth when compromise is applauded, and to walk in holiness when sin is normalized. The darker the world becomes, the brighter the children of God are meant to shine.

The return of the King is drawing near, and the enemy knows his time is short. That is why the world feels so heavy, so chaotic, so spiritually suffocating. But the darkness cannot comprehend the light — meaning it cannot extinguish it, cannot overpower it, cannot silence it. Christ’s light is eternal, unstoppable, and victorious.

Your life becomes a lantern in a collapsing world. Every act of kindness, every prayer whispered, every moment of obedience, every refusal to bow to fear — all of it pushes back the darkness. You are not powerless. You are illuminated by the One who is Light Himself.

And when He returns, every shadow will flee…

Reflective Question:

How can you shine Christ’s light more boldly in a world that desperately needs hope?

” Lord, let Your light shine through me. Make me courageous, compassionate, and unwavering. Help me reflect Your truth in a world drowning in confusion. Prepare my heart for Your return and let my life be a beacon of Your glory. In Jesus name, Amen.”

  1. If we compare spiritual darkness to physical blindness, I can’t imagine anyone wanting to desire a lifetime in that situation. How vulnerable to only hear what and who you are exposed to. Groping in the dark would create many difficulties without a faithful friend would put many limitations on your mental and physical wellbeing.
When we think of people going into outer darkness for eternity due to their choices here on earth, it makes us want to weep. How much misery dwells within their heart and thoughts.
We cannot live without light. Every living thing would die should this world experience a lengthy physical blackout. So it goes with our inward soul. Block out the Son / sun and it is all over.
Praying that people wake up and see themselves as they truly are so that they come to their senses that they need a Savior who is able to bring them to that Light which is Christ.
We are blessed to know Him and be known personally by Him. Amen
    Great article my dear sister!
