My sister has been in discipleship training in Kona, Hawaii, since the first of October, with Youth With A Mission (YWAM). On December 18, she will be going to Thailand with a team of 12 other people from several different countries. She is going into the mission work in her mid 60’s. Discipleship does not stop at retirement age. She will be going into a country and culture that is about 90% Buddhism. There are Buddhist temples and statues everywhere. Thailand is one of several nations in Southeast Asia that are predominantly Buddhist.
Psalm 135:15-17 says, “The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of human hands. They have mouths but do not speak. They have eyes but do not see. They have ears but do not hear. Nor is there any breath in their mouths.” “All the gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but the Lord made the heavens”(Psalm 96:5).
The majority of people in Thailand don’t know about the one true God who sent His Son Jesus to die for their sins and rose from the dead. Buddha lived until 80 years of age but died around 483 BCE. Jesus lives today! Pray that my sister will be able to share the gospel with some Thai people who need to know about the one true God and the living Savior Jesus, who offers salvation by grace and who hears their prayers. He is the only one worthy of worship! My sister is the only member of my family who will have lived and ministered on another continent. That is so exciting to me!
If you are done with a profession or occupation, God can still have something for you to do. John was the oldest living apostle, but God gave him visions in his elderly years that resulted in writing the Book of Revelation-A book of prophecy for the future of humanity and the world. God may not give you a vision for humanity, but you may never know what God could have in store for you unless you ask him. With the time and freedom, you have, seek to use it to bring people into God’s kingdom. Perhaps you have some unique gifts and abilities that God can use. It is not yet known what my sister and the team will be doing in Thailand for the 2 1/2 months they will be there, but I can keep you up to date in my comments.
In the meantime, whether you are reading this article before or after December 18, please pray for the safety of the team, and for opportunities for them to share their faith. It would be great to tell my sister that prayers from around the world are going up for her and the team. Might you consider sending me an email letting me know you are praying. My email is in my profile at the bottom of this article.
The Bottom Line, Ministries Christian News, Articles, & Poetry

My mother’s brother has been living in Thailand since I was in middle school, I am in my seventies now. He had gone there as a missionary. I haven’t known much about him over the years but I know he worked at the university in Bangkok teaching English. He was still teaching as of four years ago.
He fell in love with that country and chose to remain there even though his two sons have been living in the USA for a long time now. His wife had passed away a long time ago and buried over here.
It is truly sad that for all those centuries, these people still walk in spiritual darkness not knowing that they have a Savior.
May many turn to Jesus and find healing in His wings.
Praying that your sister’s group will have a blessed time in this land and hear results of many coming out of darkness into the Light of our Redeeming.
Team Thailand had an opportunity to share about Jesus at a Buddhist school on Christmas Day! Exciting. Keep them in your prayers that there will be more open doors for them to share their faith.
