In God We Trust

“And He said to me, ‘Son of man, can these bones live?’ And I answered, O Lord GOD, you know.’ Then He said to me, O dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live. And I will lay sinews upon you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live, and you shall know that I am the LORD.” (Ezekiel 37:3-6)

We see news reports regularly about the demise of America. It has lost its influence and favor in the world. It is ‘in decline’.

And it is true. America is not the same. In the not too distant past, we lived with blinders on. We did not look and see what was coming. And sadly, much of what has come to be is because of our own negligence. Unintentional, to be sure, but negligence just the same.

Our America at one time was known for having a moral conscience. Ours was the country where freedom reigned. We were known for making our own products, and for making them well. From the beginning of our republic, to only a few short years ago, our goods and industries were respected, even coveted, by other nations. We were referred to as the ‘land of opportunity’. We could be whoever or whatever we wanted to be, if we worked hard and kept our ‘nose clean’.  Ours was the land of milk and honey. But it has been drying up for quite a long time now.

We allowed God to be removed from our schools. Surely, that’s when our moral compass really started spinning out of control. We see more immorality than ever before. In movies, on the television, in print, and now on the internet. And since it is an accepted practice now, nobody will effectively take a stand against it. We have laws to protect children from sexual predators, yet they receive a slap on the wrist and very little, if any, jail time. Our children no longer learn our own history. Very few younger Americans even recognize our previous president’s names, let alone what they may have done for our country.

So, is it too late? Can the America we once knew rise again? The answer is YES! Of course it can. If God is allowed control. Of course He has control anyway, but we need to make the decision to turn it over, give it up, place it in His hands. God can once again take these dry bones and give them life. He can make America great again.

Christians must take up the mantle of prayer, and ask for change, protection, and wisdom. And we must have faith. Trust in God is imperative. We must also pray for our leaders. They are the authority that God has established. We are to respect and obey…to a point. The point being, when it becomes the line in the sand, we must choose which side we will stand on. We should always put the Word of God first. And we must believe it when we say, ‘In God We Trust’.

“So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army.” (Ezekiel 37:10)

  1. I agree with everything you had to say. There is always promise when we put God first and listen to His Word. We also can learn from the founders of this country, as a lot of them did things right most of the time. Of course, we see that there has been an ongoing demise due to selfish desires and crooked agendas. We need to keep this in prayer and be proactive as much as possible in whatever way God leads us.
