OUR HOPE: What Will Become of Us?

‘Let us make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.’ Romans 14:19 (NIV)

When you read the daily newspaper headlines, do you become fearful?  What about when you see the television news programs?  They show very graphic videos and pictures of murder and mayhem in foreign countries.  And now they are saying this terror may be coming to our own soil.  Does that prospect frighten you?

We can very easily get caught up in the things of this world.  Sometimes we personally have no control over this.  And if these things do indeed come to us in our own land, we will most definitely be caught up in them, regardless of our intent.

However, as children of the Most High God, we must continue to live as He has commanded.  We are to be holy, set apart for His glory, and to glorify Him.  We are to be the salt and light, to share Jesus with those who don’t know Him.  And we are to stay in unity and fellowship with our Christian brothers and sisters, for edification of one another, and especially of the entire body.  Even if and when life here becomes difficult and we face persecution daily, sometimes even when our very lives are in jeopardy because of our faith, we must stay on the straight and narrow road that has been set before us.  Because Jesus walked it, we can too.

The world is becoming more and more dangerous each and every day.  Our borders are open, and those who would bring us harm are free to cross over,  along with those who simply want a better life.  We do not have leadership that is concerned about providing protection for our citizenry.  They do not see the threat looming over us.

But our God does.  Nothing catches Him by surprise.  He has made promises to His people, promises of life, provision, and protection.  He delivers on those promises.  He is Our Hope, and He will lead us through these troubling times as He has led His people through the ages.  We need not fear…He has placed His angels around His own.  He will lift up our heads, and we will obey His commands.  And as long as we do these things, there will always be a remnant of good in this world.  This is His plan for us!  He will be our deliverer, and we will live forever in victory!

‘In the shelter of Your presence You hide them from the intrigues of men; in Your dwelling You keep them safe from accusing tongues.’  Psalm 31:19-20 (NIV)

Blessings!
