AI, Robots, And Transhumanism, Or God’s Plan For Humanity

The world civilization is moving from the way God created it to man-made inventions like AI,robotics, and transhumanism (linking people with computers). It is developing rapidly as a so-called improvement on what God has created. I wonder what God thinks about all of this?

It is like the Tower of Babel, but on a global scale. in Genesis 11 it is recorded that people sought to build a tall tower in defiance of God and to show what they could do. However, God put a stop to it. Now humans are showing how much they can do with no regard for God. In fact, in the case of AI, the goal is to make it like a God to be worshiped, and in the case of transhumanism it is to have eternal life.

This is the exact opposite of why God created all of us. It is to glorify Him with a purpose to live, not to glorify the accomplishments of the human race. Jeremiah 9:23-24 says, “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his mind, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth.  For in these I delight, declares the Lord.”

Furthermore, God will accomplish His divine agenda in spite of what humanity does. Proverbs 19:21 says,”many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” 

God has had a plan from the beginning of creation, and it will continue into the future. Isaiah 46:9-10 clearly states, “… I am God, and there is no other. I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times to things not yet done, saying my council shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose.”  God is allowing this for the time being, but when He has had enough, He can put a stop to it. Perhaps God is allowing it to continue to show the futility it will be to have eternal life and to become like Him through man-made technology.

What kind of future the human race will have remains to be seen, but for Christians there is a wonderful future planned by God. It is interesting that AI and transhumanism want to prolong life and become like God. God already has had a plan like that for thousands of years. He has offered people eternal existence and salvation for those who accept Jesus as their Savior (John 3:16). For those who do, they will be transformed into God’s likeness (1 John 3:2), with a glorified body like Christ (Phil. 3:21 and 1 Corinthians 15:53).

The future that humanity has planned will not even compare to what God has in store. There will be an eternity in God‘s presence. There will be no robots or people connected to computers in heaven. Only those whose souls have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus will be there.
