Ransomed And Redeemed (Chinese/English)

HOSEA 13:14 I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.

 Ransomed And Redeemed

After many years in my first church, I suggested to my Pastor, that he preach through one of the minor prophets.  He choose Hosea. I don’t think many of the congregation understood why he chose a minor prophet and I sat very uneasy in my seat as he said that a member of the congregation had asked him to preach on one of the minor prophets.

I was baptized on Easter Sunday 6th April 1980, and My Pastor had wondered what he would preach on.  His text in Hosea turned out to be the perfect message for the baptism service, and for Easter Sunday.   It is the story of what has happened to every Christian; It is a prophecy of what was to happen through Jesus at the cross and the resurrection.

Jesus took death and sin and dealt with them at the cross.  Each and every Christian has been ransomed and redeemed, but it took Jesus to redeem and ransom them. It took a perfect sacrifice to deliver us from the power of the grave. It took undeserved grace and God’s mercy, but it also took God’s wrath to be taken in full by Jesus-the perfect Son of God became sin for us-for me.

What happened at the cross was that a ransom was paid for you and the price was the death of our precious Saviour…our redemption cost him absolutely everything. Not only did it cost him his life it cost him His fellowship with the Father.

Let us be joyful that we have been ransomed from the power of the grave and that we have been redeemed from death.

1 Corinthians 15-54-48 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Colossians 2:11-15 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

God bless you.
