A New Year, A New Surrender

Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth…

Another year has quietly slipped into memory, carrying with it the weight of everything I lived through — the moments that strengthened me, the moments that stretched me, and the moments that left me on my knees. There were days I soared and days I stumbled, but through it all, God remained steady. He never loosened His grip, never lost sight of me, never stopped working behind the scenes even when I couldn’t see the purpose.

And now, as I stand at the edge of a new year, I feel the gentle pull of His Spirit reminding me that the past has served its purpose. What needs to be learned has been learned. What needs to be released must be released. I cannot carry old burdens into new blessings. I cannot cling to yesterday while asking God to move in my tomorrow.

This year, I choose to step forward with open hands. I choose to let God write the next chapter without me trying to edit every line. I choose to trust that He sees what I cannot — the opportunities, the healing, the growth, the divine appointments waiting just ahead. I choose to believe that He has my best interest in mind, not because life is easy, but because His heart toward me is good.

Another year means another chance to serve Him more fully, love Him more deeply, and allow Him to work through me in ways I never imagined. I’m not walking into this year alone. I’m walking into it with the One who holds time, seasons, and my future in His hands.

“Lord, thank You for the year behind me and the year before me. Help me release what no longer belongs to my journey and embrace the new things You are preparing. Guide my steps, shape my heart, and use my life for Your glory. Let this year be marked by deeper surrender, stronger faith, and a closer walk with You. In Jesus name, Amen.”

  3. Beautifully stated. This comes from having a close relationship with our Lord. He can make all things new!

Reading Genesis today where our first parents faltered brought me inward tears and thinking the ‘What If this didn’t happen’. Yet it did, bringing forth all our sorrows and death into its grip so that all who are born into this world; even for our Lord who came to save us from its hold. How much love He continually gives to all that comes into being as He is our Creator made in His image.
As you have shared your heart to follow after His will and way, we need to leave behind those areas of life that have been spent. Going forward, dependence upon Him for guidance is our greatest strength to make right choices that will please Him.
So we can say with rejoicing, “What is happening since Christ stepped in, has changed the direction for our destiny!” No more sorrow or death can exist in His presence.
Loved your words of wisdom that shows the way to live in Him and for Him.
