Praying Pets: Because It Really Does Happen

Do you realize that our pets praise the Lord? If you don’t believe me, I’m going to take a moment to try to convince you of this very thing. If one were to examine the subject of animals praising God, there are two places that I would suggest looking. They are Psalm and Job. Both books tell us of earthly creatures praising our Lord. Let’s look at this further.

Psalm 150:6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

Now you’ve probably already figured out my argument as to why the Holy Bible would support pets praying. They have breath so this scriptures tells us that they are to be praising the Lord. If the bible tells us they are to be doing something, then it must be possible. Furthermore, we see evidence of this in the bible in the book of Job animals crying out to God, which indicates some intelligent communication is going on that is being initiated by the animal.

Job 38:41 Who provideth for the raven his food? when his young ones cry unto God, they wander for lack of meat.

Now if ravens are able to cry out to God for food and all things with breath are able to praise God, then why wouldn’t common, or even exotic, household pets be able to pray? After all, prayer is a key method for praising God. Anyway, that’s just my two cents on the matter.

I’m not going to end this here. Just for fun, I’m going to say a little prayer on behalf of our pets, as to what I think this may look like:

Dear Lord,

Today I chewed my master’s favorite pair of slippers, accidentally left a mess on the new carpet, got yelled at, and was fed a can of wet food that even my master said “Ewwww” to when opening. All-in-all it was a pretty rough day. Despite the trials I face daily, I just want to thank you Lord for giving me a place to sleep and a master that loves me. I also want to thank you for loving me and listening to me even when I feel like others are ignoring me. I praise you with my four paws, black nose, fluffy tail, and everything else that makes me the unique individual I am. I praise you Lord with all that I am. In Jesus Christ’s name, Amen.

Thank you for allowing me to share my little pet prayer with you. I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I did writing it. I also hope you will ponder some of the concerns that our pets have today and love them dearly. Thank you for reading and God bless.
